OH was failed by the education system back in the 1960s and left school without taking any exams. When he was made redundant three years ago he decided to spend his redundancy money on doing an HNC in Photography, which he passed with flying colours.

Now he's decided he wants to do a degree. He applied at the beginning of the week and the Uni have rung him this morning and asked him to go for an interview next week.

I'm absolutely delighted. Please send some pixie dust his way on Wednesday morning.

Well done and congratulations Sheila's husband. I bet you are so proud of him Sheila.

This is very reminiscent of my husband who is dyslexic. All his life he has been labelled as thick by everyone including his school. You have no idea how much university has boosted his confidence. His graduation ceremony will be a tearful event believe me. (Tears of pride and happiness)

OH appears to have dyslexia or an allied condition that was never recognised at school - well, they didn't then. I know he can do this, but even if he decides he doesn't want to, then getting this far and being taken seriously is so good for him.

Thanks for your support - and everyone else's - I shall post the result in due course.

Very pleased to report that OH has now had an unconditinal offer of a place on the course he wanted, to start in September.

With two students in the family it's going to be tough, but I'm sure we'll get there.

Thanks for all your support.
