I will have no fatty bum bums in my shop window at Christmas. It is a time for peace and quite and not for pieces of bum bums...

Right-I said I'd do it for you to prove I can & that it can be done.I don't want your money, his money, fame or anything else.I was prepared to do it because I thought you'd appreciate some feedback that isn't based on money, fame or anything else.
You just don't want to know do you?So lets leave it at that & call it quits?
You have every right to be sceptical & I can only apologise if I have in some way upset or offended you by making a genuine offer.Pax?

What in the creation are you going on about?

Flippin heck, why are you getting all defensive? What have I said?

I agreed to go with it by PM but you never PM'd me!

What is the problem?

If you dont want to do it, then you shouldn't have offered!

I rest my case.

I wish you all luck with your new law -- but I can tell you now it won't make any difference.

Fortune-telling for money is against the Criminal Code of Canada and always has been. And all the fraud artists just get around it with the "for entertainment only" disclaimer. You see it in small letters at the bottom of the television screen during the infomercials for psychic hotlines you can pay $2 a minute to talk to.

Everybody who *believes* knows they just have to put that there because of the law, which is made by a bunch of non-believers they don't care about.

*They* know it isn't just for entertainment

It's for communing with their dead budgie or getting valuable advice about what to do with their druggie boyfriend from somebody with no professional qualifications to give such advice -- when it would be cheaper to pay somebody with those qualifications in the first place.

The thing about this law, though, is that it doesn't make fortune telling or anything else illegal - only fraudulent stuff. It doesn't force the mediums to say it is for entertainment only. It is their choice to do that.

What is does say is that it is an offence to mislead or misrepresent for payment.

If the medium or psychic is genuine, then there is no need to issue any 'disclaimer'. The fact that they have all done so finally kills the myth that they are for real - it is voluntary on their part.

Yes, I know, people will believe regardless!
