SueM

"Too many have left this thread because of the responses they have received. That is a shame as everyone's opinion should be heard without being criticised."

Where in the world did you get this notion?? Please -- where?????

Did you make it up and engrave it on some stone tablets and give it to yourself, and now you want to pass it on to the rest of us?

No thank you. I'll go with something that is actually true and valuable.

Everyone who wants his/her opinion to be heard should express it. S/he does not get to control what happens next.

The world is not a GenesReunited discussion board. Discussions are not threads where the first person to say something about something gets to control what everybody else says.

Thank you for the anecdote, Lynda. Lovely. Your kid is nicer than I often was.

Me, I remember complaining to my mum once about a family of badly behaved kids whom I called spoiled brats. My mum told me they weren't spoiled, they were neglected. A lightbulb went on and stayed on.

That's the kind of thinking and acting that schools should be encouraging. And that's what this whole sorry thing is about.

Sorry, Kathryn. I seemed to be under a bit of a misapprehension. I thought you might be amenable to reason. I'm afraid I'm not going to give you an arguement. This is because you aren't important to me, certainly you aren't as important as you seem to think you are.
If you wish to appear a pompous bully go for it. don't let me stop you.
As for a model. I would reckon about 95% of the people who are on these boards are your 'Model'. People who have an opinon but don't feel the need to intimaidate, denigrate or downright insult. Also I strongly object to you calling Sue a liar. Not nice, Kathryn.

Kathryn

If you were privy to my pms you would know how many and who have left this thread but you are not. Therefore you have to take my word for it (which is extremely doubtful).

I am sorry I really have neither the time nor inclinination to venture outside in the dark and start sculpting names into a block of marble.

well i can see both sides of this, if its the swedish schools policies to invite all children due to not discriminating against others then thats their policies, if said parents dont comply well they get told off.. :(
as i said good job i'm in England.......... :)))
(only my opinion) xx

And I care who has left this thread because they haven't got the guts to defend their words because ... ... ... ... help me out, I'm not coming up with anything.

"Sorry, Kathryn. I seemed to be under a bit of a misapprehension. I thought you might be amenable to reason."

Aww, Helen. If I think hard and do some research, I might come up with something I thought about you. Can't, offhand.

I surely hope this doesn't make you think you're not important to me ...

Oh, SueM! I get it! How could you have failed to?

You: Too many have left this thread because of the responses they have received. That is a shame as everyone's opinion should be heard without being criticised."

Me: Where in the world did you get this notion?? Please -- where?????

Okay now, we'll take this slowly. You had two options -- or so it seems. One of them would never have occurred to me, but there you are.

I quoted something you said, in full, to make sure there was context, I guess.

1. Too many have left this thread because of the responses they have received.
2. That is a shame as everyone's opinion should be heard without being criticised.

I asked you where you got a notion.

Now, is people leaving a thread "a notion"? I just wouldn't have thought it was.

So hmm. Is "everyone's opinion should be heard without being criticised" a notion? That one, that one looks like a notion to me.

So I wonder. Do you imagine that it is, just barely, possible that my question was directed to the thing that appeared immediately before my question?

The NOTION that everyone's opinion should be heard without being criticized? That I might have wondered where you got that NOTION?

Strangely enough, that is the ONLY reading of what I said that actually makes a stitch of sense. And yet somehow, you managed to miss it.

Kim in Cornwall -- have you seen my great-grandfather's older brother lately?

He went missing right after the 1861 census. In Plymouth, but he was born in Cornwall ...

Please return him if you've got him there!

Well Mick, it's not like we'll spend *winter* in both places! Although with the heat and humidity we're getting here, your winter might be just fine. I like wind and rain. Actually, that's exactly what we've had all week anyhow ...

I shall now hie myself off to make chicken breasts stuffed with spinach and cheese, and butternut squash pancakes. Tempting, no? Like I need anything to offer other than my own divine self!
