Hi Caz,

I had adhesions after appendix was removed in Spain and I had dreadful infection post op.

During pregnancies I had abruptions where the adhesions were pulling due to abdomen stretching and sometimes breaking. I was hospitalised for a few weeks during each pregnancy until I had 'grown' enough...lol

They offered me a repair op but I never bothered because the appendix scar is so awful I didn't wan't it touched again.

I don't really have the pain unless I twist quickly.

Go see your doc and good luck!

my hubys wasn't done by keyhole...i think again it depends how bad it is. Hubby was supposed to take two weeks off work but that was imposible so he went back after 4days,which surgeon was ok with, no driving for two weeks and no heavy lifting for six weeks.
he's now 4 weeks since surgery and is back to normal(apart from the lifting),

oops just seen it was a different kind of hernia

Thankyou Karen, my Dad had one in his groin and an op cured it, very different cause fro me though.

Thanks CMD, thats what has worried me, when I had 5 th section 6 years ago and was sterilised the consultant said my womb was paper thin. I have a smear tommorow and will ask nurse.

I know I will have to get it seen too, there is a lot of weakness there after surgery 5 times,

most hernias don't cause any problems but it is worth getting it checked

my nans twisted and she was in a lot of pain its not a big op my father in law had his done a few years ago, just take it easy so it doesnt twist and get it checked out.

Yes,
I had an hysterectomy(spelling), 17years ago, and then developed a hernia, its called an incisional hernia (spelling again), because I did not let the first surgery heal properly, the scar site was weak, and an hernia developed through the wall of the scar,
anyway I ignored it, but it got worse, to the point of having to lie down, and push the hernia back into my body, anyway I eventually got it sorted, It did involve another operation, but that was 8 years ago, and I had left it untill it was quite bad...
but they do keyhole now....
It was like having an hysterecomy again, no lifting or driving for 6 weeks, but it has been fine sinse then
they put some sort of mesh across the abdominal wall, internally of course.
You must get this attended to, as it can be quite serious, I did not realize, they can even be life threatening, because they can cut of blood supply

Thanks lorraine and daff,

I have had 5 caesareans and have had a weakness on left side for a long while. Today i felt a very sharp pain when doing something strenous and it has been burning and hurting there all day.

I just wondered if a hernia is possible. Do you know what they would do?

Yes, they can... and I believe they are fairly common on or around abdominal surgery scars... Surgery tends to leave a weakness in the muscle walls... no matter how skilled the stitcher-upperer!

yes you can if the stomach wall has been cut it will make it weak and more prone to hernias

Does anyone know if one can develop on the site of surgery?
