My mother always told me that dogs are not allowed to eat pork. Now while I don't feed my dog pork I just wondered if there's any truth in this or whether it's just an old wives' tale (sorry mum!). |

Just googled and as long as it is well cooked it's fine, but raw pork can contain a worm that is dangerous to humans and animals. |

never ever heard that one - any dogs we've had always were given any meat scraps including pork, which we had more often than any other meat! Our old bull terrier practically lived on pork sausages |

I've had the odd occasion when the pooch has nicked a bit of bacon rind - no reaction or anything. But there must have been some sort of truth behind it mustn't there? |

You never see cans of pet food that say " with pork " on them. |

think I'm right, but sure someone will pull me up on it if I've got it wrong!! I love pork and have never had a problem with it - used to be years ago "don't eat it if there's not an R in the month or something like that" but that was in the days before we all had refrigerators |

I've seen worms in fresh fish - just ordinary worms which are apparently in the fish to keep them clean!! not my idea of cleanliness though!! |

I think it comes from when dogs were commonly given raw meat. |

It's all making sense now. But it is odd that they don't put pork in dog food. If it's cooked it should be OK. |
