Getting new bathroom suite, so going to re tile the walls and I fancy large white tiles, but I think maybe I should have a bit of colour, with maybe a small tile edger or something, but what colour. This is such a expensive job, I do not want to be sick of it in a few years, or should I do it all white and add colour with towels etc. ??

We done ours last year.

Tiled wall to ceiling in big white tiles with a blue design border tile edged off with chrome strips.....the border tile was made up of different shades of blue n silver. Chrome heated towel rail. Blue towels etc.....looks very effective, clean n fresh.

Can I chip in here...
I did my bathroom last year, mainly white, with a border of little black and white tiles ( I tiled it my self) It looks fab, and I brought some black and white towels..
..however..
..I sometimes put purple, or red, towels, and get hand wash same colour, and soap same colour,,,,, so although bathroom white... the accessories(spelling) change the colour every now and again..
It works well........

That sounds lush Jules, but, wait for it , and do not laugh, blue i my football colour, so the men in the house may think I am putting Chelsea in the bathroom, but silver sounds lush, thanks XX..

Do it all white then add colour with towel etc like you said i've done it that way all white then added colour with differant colour towels and i know it sounds strange but also you can change your toilet paper xx

if you don't want to do a border you could get some designer type tiles and place them randomly amongst the white ones

Hi Gillian

If the suite is white and the walls are going to be too then without some colour on the walls I think it would look too clinical - that's just my opinion obviously :-)) How about introducing a neutral colour (black/silver or gold) on the walls using edging tiles and small border pattern which means you can change the colour of your towels etc anytime you fancy a change without clashing with a colour on the walls? Hope that all made sense :-)))

Mary

Edit: just seen cmd's post - great minds think alike :-))))

I definitely want the white fresh look, have not got a clue what to put on the floor yet, but I want it to be something that I will love forever. My units are white and pine. Quiten fancy a minty green, and strangely enough, I am not a fan of green.

Ours is all white. Suite and tiles.

Except the bits of woodwork (one wall and bath panel are tongued and grooved and window frame is wide wooden frame that OH made) that's all painted a sort of denim blue. And the ceiling is denim blue as well.

But, all towels are plain. Don't care what colour so long as they are not patterned. All fittings are chrome. Works really well in our little bathroom but in a bigger room a blue ceiling is probably not such a good idea!

I like that idea Mary, but not black, cos that is hubbys football colour, hail to the football. Gold/silver/bronze sounds elegant. XX..

What we did is buy those bumpy white tiles from B & Q.....not really bumpy, they are not really flat......you can also buy a pack with a square cut out of the middle.......we bought a pack of those and put them randomly on the plain walls, and there were opaque little squares that you could put in the square in the middle of the tile.......we bought opaque pale blue glass ones.........also they had strips of glass in the same colour and material, and we had a line of the blue glass going round the bathroom........the kids loved our style......(in their 30s)...

When I had my kitchen done I bought plain white tiles from b&q and then went to a really expensive Italian tile place and bought the border and edging tiles from there. As I was only buying a few it didn't break the bank (they have got real platinum on them) and makes the whole room look soooo expensive! LOL
