Is this about right,?

was speaking to someone ealier, and they were saying about the rising cost of food shopping which is affecting everybody as things have shot up in price over the last couple of months to almost on a daily basis,

They were saying on average it costs can cost them £20+ per day to feed family of 4 including packed lunches,

They must eat well then.................seems very high to me.

I suppose it depends what they eat and what they put in the packed lunches. I am sure i could do it cheaper than that but then I have always been able to make food go a long way. It also depends if they buy and cook fresh food. If they eat ready meals it will cost more.

That seems high to me.
Many families couldn't afford that.
It depends how much you buy in the way of packaged meals and soft drinks, crisps etc I suppose.

No they eat just normally,from what I know,roasts and stuff which I think meat is eaten most days, they are 4 working adults,

Aah! I was assuming 2 adults + 2 children. Maybe not so expensive then if they are all contributing and they eat meat every day.

£5 per head per day seems reasonable to me

It still sounds expensive to me. I've always padded out meat with lentils and beans or loads of veg or made stews and pies.

~~The domino effect...cost of fuel having big effect on food prices..lots of fruit and veg gets imported..so puts up all food..
Big fan of casseroles...go to market..get loads of veg..for £5..bit chicken and stock..feed a family of 6!

If you got a joint £10 +per day .veg wouldnt cost much,,so £10 per day is roughly spent on packed lunches.!
