I think the problem comes when new people dive in and think they can do everything in 5 minutes. They don't realise sometimes that there is stuff out there which is free to look at.

It's one of our "newbies" - asking for lookups for this, that and everyone - sure she has half the world in her tree by now. I checked for a marriage on FreeBMD for her, went back and told her it was on FreeBMD - and then someone else posted the info. So, I pointed out that I'd sent the poster to look at FreeBMD as it was about time she learned how to use it - plus IGI. Perfectly reasonable ...

I wasn't rude - just a bit short!
