Just Googled Evening News 24 Norwich, and OH looking over my shoulder said - What does a big girl like her want a padded bra for, think she has enough of her own.

We in Suffolk have a phrase for people like her....NFN

Edit: No offence intended

My first thought was... is she blonde? Which is a big insult to all the intelligent blondes that I know...but the hell can you *not* notice it? *rolls eyes*

Quite worrying really.

She wasn't alert enough to notice the bat because she'd been drinking the night before....yet she drove to work !

I can believe that a bat could hide in the washing, but can't understand how one wouldn't notice when dressing.

Morning Keith, how are you?

Have a look at Evening News 24 norwich and you can judge for yourself lol

KeithInFujairah Report 9 Jul 2008 04:18

Morning Liz,

I have heard of bats in the belfry, but bats in the bra?
If she was a big girl, I wonder why she needed a padding pocket lol.

Just reading our local newspaper on line and found this:

It seems it is not only the caped crusader that uses a bat phone.

For when Abbie Hawkins felt a vibration in her clothes she presumed it was her mobile - only to discover hours later it was actually a real-life bat tucked away in her underwear.

“Once I realised it was a bat I was shocked, but then I felt quite sorry for it really. It looked very snug in there and I thought how mean I was for disturbing it,” said Miss Hawkins, 19, who works for the Holiday Inn Norwich North, based near Norwich International Airport.

From the moment the receptionist and reservations agent got dressed at 7.30am until her lunch at midday she had no idea at all that the creature was hidden in the padding pocket of her black bra - even though the bat was the size of her hand.

“I did not notice anything as I put my bra on. The night before I had had one or two drinks and I was getting ready quickly.

“The bra was in my drawer but it had been on the washing line the day before,” she said.

“When I was driving to work I felt a slight vibration but I thought it was just my mobile phone in my jacket pocket.

“It was quite a busy morning and I did not for minute think it was anything other than my mobile.”

But then at about midday she took her phone out of her pocket and still felt something moving.

“I plucked up the courage to investigate and I pulled out a little baby bat. I just lost my breath when I saw it and I did not know what it was at first.”

She said that when everyone in the office crowded round to see the bat it escaped to a dark corner in the office, before her general manager took the bat outside and set it free in the hotel garden.

Even now Miss Hawkins, from Norwich, still cannot quite believe what happened on June 24.

“I keep thinking how could I have not known it was there? Whenever I talk about it nobody believes me. Thank goodness people at work saw what happened or people may have thought I was crazy.

“I will certainly be checking my bras every morning from now on!” she said.

Jaime Eastham from the Bat Conservation Trust said the organisation had never heard of a bat being found in a bra before, but that there had been cases of bats being found in a toiletry bag, an umbrella, and the lining of a coat that was not being worn.

She said: “Bats hibernate during the winter but in May and June they have babies and that is when people are most likely to find bats. Bats often roost in trees or under roof tiles - anywhere that is dark or safe.

“If anybody finds a bat they can call our Bat Helpline on 0845 1300 228.”

I can't copy and paste the picture, but Abbie was a big girl lol so there was plenty of room for the baby bat!
