Yes I agree Hayley...live life for today and forget tomorrow. I never think too far ahead because you don't know what'll happen.

J*Near...regarding quoting what I said earlier..I was generalising..I didnt mean to cause offence..In certain circumstances nursing homes are appropriate..and not an easy decision..I see this situation plentifold and multiplied..we are living longer..etc..
And yes Hayley..think that quote was from Shakespeare... ; )..and you are very right!

Have quoted this before. The French have a saying "young old age is the time of your life". - it is absolutely true. Do it now while you comfortably can.

Old old age is not all that bad if you accept it as normal and realise you will slow down and have a few problems, but it still has quite a bit going for it.

Happy days (to come)

Fat Face is a surfer shop - you know for kids who like to go surfing - on water rather than the internet!!
Most high streets have them. I alternate between that and Edinburgh Woollen Stores!!!!
Last year I was shopping with my daughters. We went into 'Fat Face' and I saw a really nice top - and bought it. When we were about to go home eldest said she wanted to do somethng - she went into 'Fat Face' and bought exactly the same top as me!!
I'm a bit addicted when they have sales now - they sell baggy clothes that hide a multitude of 'lurve handles'.

So who's the trend setter then? LOL

Don't forget we had the platform shoes before they did!! (Or in my case - my mum did even before me - in the 1940's)!!

I used to worry about being old, but now I am (73)
I have learnt I cant do a thing about it! if and when
parts of me start to drop off thats when I will think
again....Now I look for a blessing every day there is
always one you know, it maybe late at night or
very early, and if I am lucky there will be more than
one, enjoy each day, smile , laugh, tell you mind to
stop lying to you..Jean x

I remember being freaked out when I hit 40, but 50 didn't phase me at all.
I go to a keep fit class for the over 50s - most are in their sixties and retired. They all go on fantastic holidays, everyone can still touch their toes. They are all full of joie de vivre and all think retirement is wonderful. I'm actually starting to get more optimistic as I get older rather than less.
Remember age is just a number and everyone ages differently

Well I was 72 lst month - people say I look nowhere near it [they could be lying but I don't think so] I think I was fortunate to have very young looking parents who married young and had me when they were very young. Mum had good skin and so have I. Things have started going south but I don't really care - I dress fashionably but not too young for my age - I sit here in a Per Una top and crop trousers [red]. Age to me is a state of mind - if you feel young you act young. I used to meet up with about ten school friends from infants/junior and grammar school. Not bothering any more cos they all looked so old, dressed old and acted old and I didn't feel I belonged. One of the others felt the same as me and we opt out now. We felt they looked like our grandmothers. I know that if I don't get any illness that I shall live at least another fifteen years or more and am quite looking forward to it.

Age is a number. I suspect most of us don't like the new 'decade' birthdays. My OH is coming up to 70 this month and we are going to a friend's 70th barbecue on saturday, some of our friends and acquaintances are older, some younger. i am 2 years younger than my OH. I must admit, while I don't worry, don't even think about getting older and love being retired, I do worry a bit about my OH getting older. strange that. I suppose I Iook at him more than I look at me and I see him ageing. Plenty of life in us yet though!!
