"dementia, incontinence, being dumped in a nursing home etc..."

Just to say it is not easy when you have no option but to take that decision on medical advice for your own Mother who needs residential care 24/7.

But I myself still feel as if I am the age of my adult children and sadly most of the time when I see my mother she thinks I am her sister!

I have a friend who was exactly the same as you...she was so frightened the weeks leading up to her 40th, she dyed her hair (still does), dewaxed or whatever you call it, had Biotex, and tried all the miracle creams....but I will let her speak for herself:-))

Fifty + is much better than forty +.
You can start the 'pardon' and 'what was his name' while still being able to (eventually) remember!!
And you don't have to dress young. Having said that, I admired the top a young temp was wearing - she said she got it from 'Fat Face'.
The next day she admired my top - which I had also bought from 'Fat Face'. Getting older doesn't mean elasticated waisted trousers you know!!! It means walking into shops with your head held high - no matter how young the assistants!!!

~~But I am scared of getting old...!..I know it has to happen...but as I have just turned 40...(half of 80..yes..I can add and subtract!)..I dye my hair..(limited greys at mo)..and apply lots of facial creams...as you do...Im still 20 something..in my mind...Am I alone in this?...trying to remain ever young...not to age...Now menopause has been mentioned.in a thread...I am hyperventilating...(well..not quite...)...lol
