Thanks all, I showed Guy the thread when he was here, but there was so much going on, he didn't get back to say thank you. I picked him up from his flat cos he had got back from work earlier than expected (his company are taking him and another chap to Witham in Essex every day to do some work transferring data to Norfolk for storing). He makes me laugh! They get taken to a canteen in another building for lunch, all paid for, and when he has finished eating he goes out to the charity shops there and finds bargains, buys them and brings them home, and sells them on ebay lol mostly making quite a profit!
Anway we then went to pick up the little boy of his ex girlfriend, they have been split up a year, but he still sees J. as he was in his life for over 4 years and J is coming up to 8 now. I thought it was a bit off she hadn't even got J. to make a card, or get a little gift, but that's typical of her, so glad Guy has split with her. I told them I had got pizzas and things to cook for dinner and neither of them wanted the ones I had, so we called at the local supermarket and got more things, and a bottle of wine for only £2.99 as the store is having a clear out to make space for a refurb. Came out of there £16 + lighter!
Got home and started cooking, and Guy opened his cards and pressies, and the two of them chatted while I cooked, then we looked at this thread and some photos of J's previous visit and other pics. Time to eat, and then light the candles on the cake and before we knew it, was time to take J. back to his mum and Guy home to meet his mates to go out (9pm by then.)
I rang him a bit later to see if he was out, or had fallen asleep on the sofa, and he was out, said as he turned round to talk to me, away from the noise at the bar, he found a pound coin on the floor. Oh good, says I. That's not all he said, as I came out of my flat and walked across the road, I found a £20 note!! No way of knowing who could have lost it as it is a busy walkway from the city but no one was around when he went out so he will have a good night tonight, hope he gets up for work tomorrow lol

Felt a bit sad I didn't have much time with him myself, as it was all so rushed, but will see him again soon, no doubt.
Also sad to see the way J. has become, all his nice manners that Guy helped encourage have gone out the window, no please and thank you any more without reminders, and a certain arrogance about him that he didn't have before. He is a bright little lad, but says he gets bullied at school, which surprised me as he used to be very popular. Guy is going to see him a bit more often if he can, and see if it makes a difference. He really wanted to water the garden and there wasn't time so I have promised I will have him round one afternoon during the hols, see if I can find that lovely way he used to have, if it is still buried somewhere.

Am as tired now as the day I gave birth lol Birthdays take it out of you don't they lol?

Thanks Ros for putting up the thread and thanks again for all the good wishes. Not sure if he will remember to come on here from his computer, so hope you will accept my thanks, you know what young men are like, busy, busy lol
