Many thanks to you all for your ideas. Many shops mentioned are not available in my area,but some are. Will try Tesco and M&S on Sunday, who I know sell big sizes.
I think it is safe to say that even if you are a large size, you like to dress nicely, and not like your grandmother, both day and night. There are more people wearing the larger sizes these days, but the fashion people have yet to come to terms with this.
I used to used Evans at my local Co-op, for lovely elasticated waist pull on jeans.Don't always have time to pull down zips and undo belts. Then a few years ago, they changed their styles, with tears in the knees etc.for the younger people. That's fine, but there are still some of us 'larger oldies', who still like to wear jeans.

My fashion tip. ;)

Go for solid colours -- no ditzy prints.

And go for dark colours or deep jewel tones -- no pastels. Try to get "your" colour so you don't look sallow or blotchy if you catch yourself in the mirror. For instance, I know I can always rely on black or deep cherry/wine red, for my colouring.

You'll just feel sleeker and more "well-dressed", and feel less like you just rolled out of bed, and less like an inmate. You might just get taken a little more seriously, too. ;)

You and I are the same size and the same age!!
As well as all the above places, I get a lot of my things from Dash which is usually inside Debenhams (who also do some nice nighties). Dash size 20 usually fits me - and they have smart jersey pull-on trousers with matching sleevless zip-up gilets. And they have a sale on at the moment!
I also use Elvi and Anne Harvey.
Have a good look round M & S as well, they do larger sizes.
Try looking at these shops on the internet to give you some idea of what is around.
I do hope you find something you like.

Sainsbury's also do a big selection of jogging bottoms and tops at extremely low prices

Tesco's do a range for men................t-shirts and shorts and jogging bottoms and tops.

Yes, I know you are a lady, but they might do womens as well.......................I don't go shopping, so maybe it's worth looking online.

most stores have been metioned Bon marche dothe night attire you mentioned my pj were really nice looked like tousers and t shirt in cotton washes lovely too also new look do nice ones too hope this helps

I have lovely pyjamas and nighties of the material you are looking for.
Often in Fifty Plus, you will get a bargain of 2 for £9... don't think they are rubbish, because they are not.

Do you have a QS or matalan near you you could even try tesco and asda they stock that sort of thing and not too pricey either.

It was me they helped with the 3/4 tops and you are right they did a fine job!

Hi Julia,if you can get to Skegness there is a shop called Size Up lovely clothes for larger ladies of all ages there may be a branch near you.very fashionable and sizes from 16 -30,and are always having sales at bargain prices.hope you find something suitable,and good luck with your hospital visit.

Most high street stores stock nightwear of the loungewear/casual 't-shirt and bottoms' type. Depending on budget, try M&S, BHS, Peacocks. Often you can buy tops and bottoms separately to mix and match.

After a recent stay in hospital, and some others to come, I realised how non PC I was dressed. Very few people actually don nightclothes and get between the sheets, except at night, particularly if you are on an assessment ward.
It would appear that day clothes are more popular. But it is necessary for doctors to be able to ask you to pull your clothes up or down according to the area they wish to access.
To facilitate this, I thought that something on the lines of elasticated waist 'bottoms', such as joggy bottoms would be useful, with a nice matching top.Not being the type that normally wears this kind of attire, I am not familiar as to who sells such things. But, and this is what I am trying to get to, where do you buy them these days.
Being a lady of advancing years (62), and not unamply proportioned, I would like to look my best.
Likewise, as to nightwear. Never being the type to wear silky, slashed to the waist, let it all hang out, type of nightwear, either a nighty or pj's.preferably of the teeshirt type of fabric, would be helpful
So my friends, I am asking for your help. Which shops would stock the above items, say size 22/24, in nice designs. Many of you came up trumps for a lady on here when she wanted three quarter length tee shirts/tops
