Yes, its best and much safer to be insulated from the realities of life. lol.

The reality being that meat doesnt grow out of the soil or get made, it is flesh and it gets killed for our consumption. and very tasty it is too.

For the life of me, I cannot see what the problem is there. People are prepared to sit and watch total desperate mind numbingly insulting to the intelligence pointless intelectually bankrupt reality TV, but get all squeamish when REAL life is shown!

What a strange old world we live in.

Much as I find it horrible myself (and yes, I eat meat) I think it should be shown.

I eat meat but just because I don't enjoy watching animals being slaughtered doesn't mean I don't know where it came from or what happens .

I watch TV for entertainment and I don't find that entertaining. There's enough to disturb me watching the news.... I look for light relief after that. If people enjoy watching it then all power to their elbow but I don't xx

LIkewise with reality TV shows - I wont suffer them to be on the telly - I use the off button or change channels!

But I would defend a persons right to watch them - although I also dont see why on earth they should be shown when they are taking up airspace when something interesting, like cricket, could be getting shown.

:-)

Absolutely Eldrick. It would be a funny old world if every one liked the same thing.
I use that self same *off* button for the cricket........watching that makes my face hurt but there you go........each to their own lololol xx

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (sp?) did it recently with chickens.......felt the need to show us all how chickens are kept and abused........he was crying......the sales of free range chickens and eggs went up after his programme though....

They also have one showing an allotment in London...I think.....with people growing things, but have added a pig and cow for them to take care of.....children as well......they are treating them like pets.......I hate to think what happens when the animals go to slaughter......how will they feel then....

I like meat, but after programmes like these it does turn me off......

Am i right in thinking that Simon Cowell is the man who 'owns' Big Brother' and the 'get me out of here' programmes...?

As well as the X factor and stuff like that?

Sally Moonchild Report 16 Jul 2008 10:15

Cricket Eldrick......blimmin Cricket!!!!!!!.......coughs and splutters into tea.......as you say, each to our own.....lol

Muffyxx Report 16 Jul 2008 10:15

Endermol own Big Brother ........I think they're a Dutch company....don't THINK Simon Cowell has anything to do with it.

As for the others........I haven't a clue I don't watch em xx

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 16 Jul 2008 10:17

lol - there we go! Our national sport (yes, it still is cricket, not football!)

Is there no patriotism here!

Give me an empty cricket ground on a wet day with no play rather than Ant and Dec in the jungle with a collection of has been celebrities or big brother failures!

lol

Eldrick.....as a child I was taken to watch local cricket matches......the Oval was only down the road.....

My Dad loved all sport......and when he stayed he wanted to watch cricket, which meant that in order to spend time in his company, I had to learn the rules and watch the game and discuss what was going on........I did in the end find it interesting to a point......but now......no, along with snooker, tennis, contract bridge.......it is not my cup of tea....

I would never dream of decrying those who love something that does not interest me......it would not do for us all to be the same......

Yeah - I suppose cricket is slightly more interesting
than watching Big Bogan!

I think it's not the programmes themselves that upset me.....it's the lack of variety .

Sometimes there just seems to be soaps on TV
sometimes it just seems to be reality TV on TV
sometimes it just seems to be sport on TV

However, if they had more episodes of Doctor Who.....I probably wouldn't complain lol
