Dawnieher3headaches Report 16 Jul 2008 17:48

Well I am not looking forward to the next few weeks.

She reckons that it is the migraines I have always suffered with flaring up and the constant headache I have is from the painkillers I am on.

Upshot is I have tablets to take all the time plus some to take if I get a bad attack.
Also have to stop taking the codeine and only take the paracetamol if I have to (well that will be all the time) she also wants my GP to stop my Gabapentin which is for my restless legs so will have them doing a jig at night more than they are at minute.

That will leave me with the Amitriptyline which are meant to help me sleep at night but not having muvh effect at moment .

So basically to get rid of headaches I have to put up with the pain everywhere else.

Got home this morning and fell straight asleep on sofa till after 2 and am ready for bed again although if I sleep now wont later.

Thank gawd I am seeing my Rheumatologist at end of month as by then will be in a right state again.

thanks for the thoughts on Julias thread

Hi Dawnie

I was hoping that she could give you better news, but I guess she's got to try you without the painkillers to see if they are causing more headaches.
Go steady on those paracetamols won't you? They can cause problems too.

I really hope that your headaches get better now, but hope other pains don't get worse because of this.

((((((Hugs)))))) from me too Dawnie. I believe I have read somewhere that taking painkillers constantly for headaches ends up causing headaches. maybe she is right and that she needs to get all the medications out of your body to stop the vicious circle.

Thanks all of you.

as my nan would say put me in a black bag shake me up and see what falls out.
Finding it hard to laugh it all off at minute along with other things that are happening to the family but cant do a lot but plod on.

Would love not to take any tablets so am giving it all a try and see what happens, hubby reckons will be more of a grouchy mare than I already am only plus is two more days of getting up and then dont have early mornings for a while.

Am going to go and take 1st tablet and see what happens hopefully nothing unusual but if I end up floating on the ceiling will wave at you all.

Hello Dawnie,

I feel sorry for you with this, I suffer from migraneous hemiplegia (I never get a headache just paralysed).

There are a lot of really good drugs available now. Do you belong to any migraine support groups?

Let me know if you want some contacts.

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 17 Jul 2008 03:18

Dawnie, I found the amitryp. didn't help me sleep at all, as yours aren't working is it worth taking them at all? I came off all the medication as nothing was that effective and now take Q10 during the day, just 1, and 2x 5htp at night. I do use Valerian teabags before bed sometimes altho I don't usually have a problem getting off to sleep, it is the quality of sleep that is bad, I never wake up feeling refreshed. I do have painkillers but try not to take them regularly and just use various strengths of Anadin as they seem to work for me. I think really I am just used to the fm pain as nothing helped that much with it.
I am getting more headaches lately but think they are tension ones mostly, had my eyes tested to be sure they weren't the reason for some headache and that was ok. so just struggle on.
Hope you will feel better soon.
