Oh poor little thing.

I was stung by a hornet on holiday in Corsica some years ago. It got me just under my eye as I was having a drink outside a cafe.
I asked the waiter for an ice pack and put that on it straight away and it didn't come to anything much fortunately but it was really painful to begin with so I sympathise.

Hope all is well.

Thanks Sue,

It is a very nasty place to get stung isnt it? Are hornets similar to wasps?

Hi Caz

I'm glad she is much better today.

I didn't get much of a look at the hornet which stung me years ago but it was bigger than a wasp. I've no idea what made it attack me on that day but I wear glasses and wonder if it got caught under them or something. It was all over before I'd really realised.

Fortunately I speak French reasonably well so was able to ask the waiter for an ice pack and doing that immediately took the swelling down.

Ice is great for all sorts of injuries. Two years ago I was walking home from the village shop and spotted an elderly friend mowing his lawn. I wandered up his drive to say hello and he moved towards me. Unfortunately he was wearing slippers (his wife had told him not to!) and slipped on a bit of a slope. His ankle broke badly. I felt really guilty because I'd disturbed him but I had a packet of frozen peas in my basket so wrapped them in a tea-towel his wife brought out and put that on his foot.

I was told later that the surgeon in the hospital was surprised that the ankle hadn't swollen and he was able to operate immediately. Normally they have to wait for swelling to go down. So it really helped.

Thats really good Sue that you were there to help the situation.

Abi too wears glasses, maybe the wasp or hornet was attracted to the reflection? She had her Dads fleece on as it was cold, he saw one trying to head down it but managed to get it out,

shudders......

Thanks Sue,

I'm glad there were no complications Caz. Shocks the poor little ones doesn't it.

Melissa was sucking an ice lolly when she was a tot and guess what - she was stung in her mouth. Fortunately we were at a farmers' fair and St. Johns Ambulance were on site - their advice - keep sucking the ice lolly!

Give her a hug from me.
