Hi Huia, my goodness, just seen the picture. I couldn't believe how much was across that roadway, and your dear hubby out trying to help bless him. I am glad you have another way out and that you didn't have to tow the chap's car.
You both take care,Huia. I got woken by some chap across the road cutting paving slabs for their drive. Need more sleep so off again in a mo.
Catch you later

Huia Report 31 Jul 2008 07:47

When we got up this morning I could see that there was a slip down, just up the road from us. When we finished brekky we went up. It is right across the road. It has been reported to the council but nothing has been done yet, apart from the efforts of my OH and another man, who then tried to drive through but got stuck. Luckily another vehicle arrived and towed him back out of it otherwise I would have had to get our vehicle out to tow him.

I will send you a photo, Liz.

Huia.

Hi Huia, hope things are ok with you and the storm is over.
In the U.K. you can get little lights that work by battery and can be fixed up in cupboards and such, maybe if you could get them, they would be safe for lighting your home if the power goes at night.
Probably safer to forget about the camping gas stove if you aren't around.
Take care, love,

I didnt stay in town today for choir practice tonight. The forecast is for another storm. When I was getting ready this morning I got the camping gas cooker out in case our power went off today and asked him to see if he could remember how to use it. He tried to turn it on but was turning the knob the wrong way. Then I started to worry about him using it when I wasnt here. Choir can manage without me tonight. I hope!

Pakefield eh? Don't know it well
I remember seeing that on tv., it was amazing and so many people were turned the wrong way while paddling in the sea etc and missed seeing it happen!
Might go myself next year, to Lowestoft, wonder if they made more money this year?

My favourite was the Harrier Jump Jet, which wasn't there this year. We were sitting on the beach the year the pilot ejected and it ditched into the sea!

No Liz, I am at Pakefield and we sat on the beach near Rectory Road.

When my hubby was in the RAF we were in Cyprus and I was taken by my boss (Sqd Ldr) to meet the crew of the Red Arrows and they let me sit in one of the planes. wouldn't let me fly in it though obviously. The cockpits are really small and you can hardly move so always think it's marvellous how they do all those stunts

Then I am pretty sure that's the one I saw, how I wish I had been quicker and got a pic. It just sort of appeared as I was sitting at the computer and by the time I grabbed my camera, there it was, gone!

Thanks East Point, are you at Sparrow's Nest?

The Vulcan was green/brown camaflague (sp) colours and had a huge wingspan.

I think that might have been the plane I saw flying close to the house but it was gone before I could get outside with my camera, was it a sort of dark khaki colour?

No, it did fly on Thursday Brian, but Fridays flight by it was a little shorter than Thursdays. It was great though.

I wanted to get up to Lowestoft to see the Vulcan but Thursday and Friday was out of the question at this time of the year.
I understand it missed Thursday because of an electrical fault but did a display about 16.10 on Friday.

Anyone see it?

East Point Report 27 Jul 2008 12:47

I was on the beach at Lowestoft for it and it was fantastic!

Hi Colin, I think the ones I saw landing must have stopped to refuel at Norwich and then gone off but in a different direction hence me not seeing or even hearing them again.

No, wouldn't want to be in the planes tho I am sure the pilots are really aces.
