Ah fireworks! In my village the fireworks start at midnight (just bangs) to celebrate the beginning of a 3 day fiesta. This is three days of non stop ear blasting music which starts at midnight and continues until 6 am in the morning. No one sleeps during the night for three days. Then just when you roll into bed at 6 you only get 3 hours sleep as for some strange reason the the village band comes round the village screeching outside your window. Then the last night of the feria all the fireworks go off again at 6 am to say that it is finished. Oh and of course there are controlled firework displays throughout the 3 days on top of that as well. I´m exhausted just thinking about it!

By the way here in Spain fireworks are only permitted when they are set off by professional firework companies and are not on sale to the general public which I think is a good idea.

But the poor animals, I agree with you Maggie I always say a prayer for them.

For the third weekend we have had fireworks.
True, they ended before 11pm, so were legally used, but I have 3 cats and the one who is terrified is always out when they start!!!
She has long fur and ususally spends summer nights outside in the garden, but when the bl**dy fireworks go off, she scurries somewhere where there is long grass.
I have to wait up for her to come home, because I'm worried that one day she may not (2 other local cats have gone missing in the past 2 weeks). She is also usually encased in grass seeds and has to be brushed!!!

I thought they were trying to ban them apart from the week around November 5th, New Year, Diwali and the Chinese New year!!!
