Don't forget to turn the switch on at the plug ;-)

Personally, I'd prefer a dishwasher that could supply other errr......services ;-)

always put more fragile things on the top layer - plastic items

Dont put tins in there
if you do then make sure you take them out as soon as the dishwasher has finished, coz they go rusty lol
also make sure you clean it with a cleaner once a month and clean the filters .
have fun :o))))

Remember to buy dishwasher salt as well as the tablets or you won't be able to use the thing.

I know a lady, I could say she is a friend of mine but after what I am going to tell you, you may not want to talk to me again so I will stick with telling you that I just know her.

Well she has the most sweaty feet so she puts her flip flops in the dishwasher, says they come out clean as a whistle.

The worst thing she puts in though is er, (gulps hard), her toilet brush, she swears it comes out all clean and as the temperature is so high it kills all the germs.
Never had a coffee there since I was told this, lol

No 'best crystal' either Anne!

Hi McAnne, I am surprised by all the cautious tips you have received!!!

I put absolutely everything through my dishwasher except posh saucepans and cut glass. The filter needs cleaning and salt and rinsaid need topping up regularly. I also run a cleaner every few weeks.

Cheap glasses do go cloudy but they're cheap! Ditto wooden spoons.

I have done toilet brushes and dog bowls with great success - on a separate cycle and with dishwasher cleaner afterwards.

Oh yes, and all the oven shelves, too.

I have also followed the cliche - cooking a whole salmon wrapped in tin foil in the dishwasher on a low temperature wash! Tasted lovely!

Not kidding at all Mau, my face must have been a picture when she told me this. She did say she put it in by its self then went on to explain about the high temp and there would be no germs left. I wasn't convinced, lol. shirley.xx

Sounds a tad extravagent Shirley, to run the washer with just a toilet brush in,when she could put it into bleach.

You can buy new brushes for 48p each in our local Wilkinsons lol xx

Hoobity Report 27 Jul 2008 23:41

Helen I will tell her about the dog bowls as I know she has a dog, although I'm sure she will already do this.
I do understand about the high temperature sterilizing things but its just the thought of it, lol
At least I can now tell her she isn't the only one. xx

Hoobity

Hoobity Report 27 Jul 2008 23:43

Mau I do the bleach thing too, mind you I haven't got a dish washer. lol xx

Bobtanian Report 27 Jul 2008 23:46

it always puzzles me............the instructions WE had said to put the knives and forks in points upwards.........Seems double daft to me.....you have just sterilized them and are going to pick them out by the business ends.
also a woman, I think in america was killed( MAY be an Urban Legend) by falling on the points up knives........

SOME knife handles cant stand the heat, and will crack!!

as someone else has said.......dont forget the salt.
the softener needs it!!!
