Tragic, another pier lost. Sad for WSM, sad for the young couple and sad for all of us who have lost another piece of history.

used to go there when i was a child with my dad

We went on a day trip once to weston my brother was always wandering off and as we drove into weston my cousin said to my brother who was about 8 if "you get lost you have to go there" pointing to the lost property office on the seafront, well he did his disappearing act and where did we find him sitting on the counter eating sweets with a lady at the lost property office.

Happy memories and so sad the pier has gone

Hubby and I have been there many times, what a disaster. I have just seen a news report saying it will be rebuilt...I hope so.

It's a tragedy, because even if they rebuild, it's history gone up in flames.

What a shame

according to the somerset radio, who have a bloke there and are talking to locals

it is now a burnt out shell

just thank goodness this didnt happen during the day

with this weather the pier would have been packed with holidaymakers

i do hope they will rebuild it

but then again i dont hold out much hope

looked what happened to the Tropicana (the old pool as i knew it)

'Tis a great shame and a loss to our coastline - and will probably never be rebuilt.

Is it a coincidence that the new owners had gone off on holiday to Spain a few days before this happened? I do hope they dont find arson was the cause of the fire.
