I missed some of this evenings programme as o.h. wanted to watch something else and was already recording a third programme. I went outside to water the garden, when I came in he was asleep in the chair, grrrr, so I could have watched it all. Saw the last bit tho, I have watched the other parts in the series and felt for those folk who struggled.
I would be heartbroken if I couldn't read and write.
They are plucky people to go on tv and learn.

You would have thought his school could see his problem - after all they are the professionals........

Maybe we should e-mail her a copy of the "narcassistic mother" thread...harsh she was a king sized b"*ch if she's like that on camera can you imagine what she is like in private..

I think Kelly is only just learning to stand up for herself and doesn't yet have the knowledge to push for extra help..

OMG - the woman who wanted to read 'Little women' - how harsh was her mother??!!

And why can't Kelly get proper help for Callum?

Amen to that Caz, in a previous era your children could have been labelled as stupid or lazy and ended up like the people I've been watching.. the huge smiles on the faces of these people as they succeed, it so humbles me..

Hi Blue eyes, my youngest two kids are severely dyslexic, without the right help they may have been illiterate,

thank God they were diagnosed,

The teacher has got so much patience although he did get a telling off tonight. You just wonder how people get to their 50 `s without reading or writing. Hope they all succeed in the end , Ros xx

Was on a course today and one lady, in her 50's, could barely read and write.

Said how sad she was at not being able to read stories to her grandchildren.

I couldn't even imagine not being able to read and write. It must make life so difficult.

Just watching this on Channel 4, it's heartbreaking and inspiring all at the same time, these adults who never learnt to read or write, trying to overcome their problem , their ups and downs. The woman who describes the writing as beautiful..
Gosh how we take it for granted....
