The film was good, but the book was better!
Another book you might like about Geisha is .....

Oh yes I did and enjoyed every minute of it...
I love to read about the different cultures and ways of life that is unknown to us...

I do so with an open mind as not everyone accepts or tries to understand different cultures no matter how primitive they are...

I once painted a picture(painting by numbers) of a Geisha girl.........in 1960..........we still have it on our wall........

I too liked this book.... the ending in the book is different to the ending in the film...
prefered the book.... but I always enjoy films with costume in....

its my best book so far
did enjoy the film but left a lot out.
i have read the book 3 times
and the film twice and each time learn more of the culture.

i am not that sad!!! just dont like missing anything the first time around

will look out for the book carole .

I read it a while back and thought it very good - bettr than the film. I'm now re-reading "The Far Pavilions" by MM Kaye and, like "Geisha", it's about self sacrifice and honour - concepts which none of us, me included, seems to know too much about these days!!

Daughter & i sat and watched the dvd of it the other evening and both of us ended up crying............she bought me the book today.

What a weird coincidence...I've just added to Rosalyn's thread about reading books again - and mentioned that I'd love to re-read The Far Pavilions.
Now I've come back to this thread and The Far Pavilions has been mentioned more than once!!
