I'm sure I'm not the only one who is getting more and more cross about the way the Ghurka soldiers are being treated !
These brave men have fought for this country for years. Yet I keep seeing in the papers how badly they are treated by the government.
Recently we have seen them go to the courts in a bid to be recognised as any other ex-service personnel. This was once again turned down....
They seen to have to come cap in hand to try and get a fair pension and the right to settle in this country.
How many more of these soldiers will have to survive on the pittance that is dolled out to them ?
Sorry partial rant over just makes me very angry.

I don't know why this discrimination against the Ghurkas Lin.......after all, whenever their names are mentioned, the talk is of their bravery, loyalty and courage.......they lost lives in order that we may live in freedom......so why not share in every way.....

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I got talking to this guy in Tesco because I thought he was Chinese and I needed some advice......turned out he was Burmese and stayed here after he finished in the army......he was a Chindit, another brave group of people.....I googled his name and found out he had received an honour from the Queen ....... so why the difference....?

There was once a petition at Downing St but I can't find it now so it must have run it's course.

my brother did Trailwalker in 2006 a 100km walk over the south downs to raise money for the Gurkha Trust. I went with my bro's girlfriend a support crew and we met the tam at various check points to fee and ater them and provide them with blister plaster.

There were loads of Gurkha's there marshaling etc, they were really nice blokes and really good if anyone got into difficulties.

My Grandad fought in Burma with the Gurkhas in WW2 I think it is outragous that these guys are still fighting for recognition and the rights that have been freely given to other allies

Thanks for that Snowie. Just goes to show you learn something new every day.
However, I'm betting that happened many, many years ago. So we are now in the 21st centuary and still expecting the Ghurkas and their families to survive on a pittance !
