was asked this morning a question from Tiddler and eldest and I havent got a clue how to answer but sure you lot will know.

Tiddler showed Lis her picture of Ariel the mermaid and they were chatting then said how do Mermaids have babies where do they come out of. also how do they go to the loo.

Tiddler said maybe they pull their tails down like pants Lis said maybe they lay eggs like fish.

So you knowledgable lot how do they?????????????????

Mermaids /men are hatched from 'Sea Eggs'.....try and find a copy of 'The Sea Egg' by Lucy M Boston'...its an old book but should be around somewhere...I read it years ago and also to my son when he was little :)

This is website for her...interesting anyway

"The Manor, Hemmingford GreyThe Manor - Lucy Boston's House. Built in the 1130s The Manor is reputedly the oldest continuously inhabited house in Britain ."

From the BBC

"Reproduction

In mermaids, reproduction is much like that of dolphins. The reproductive organs of both the male and female are akin to the dolphin and whale, and mermaid babies are born live (as opposed to hatched from eggs)"

Whilst Rose's answer is probably "true" I really like Tiddler's - pmsl

Can you ask him what they do, if startled when they have their tails down around their ankles?
