Ben, Have you tried all the variants of their surname?
Auber, Aubre, Anber, Anbre, ouber, Onber.

What else could it be? Difficult to mis-read Emma.
Clara could be Clare, Edwin could be Eddie. or they could be down as C, E and E Auber. Have you tried all these?

Shelli, If he was at sea his family should be at home. if the ship was in dock it should have been part of the census. Do you know which port he was based in (i.e.where the family would live.)

Can you give the names (again if you did before) and their dates/places of birth. So we can help look.

Hi
Sorry to have been unhelpful. Alice Simms seems missing from cencus so have guessed she was born between them. Her parents were Robert Lyons Sims born 4.10.1810 in Dover and her mother Phoene nee Quick born in Poplar in circa 1830. They seem to have always lived in the London area. The child before Alice was Phoebe was born in 1867. I know that later on Alice became a general servant but I cannot find her on a cencus, she just seems to have been born and disappeared until the 1890's when I know she was living with my great grandmother.

Ann

Phyllis and Robert DID divorce in 1908.
Found details on Naional Archives. Just gotta work out how to get the details now lol. Although I do know the co-respondant is Albert Ernest Parsons aka Albert Ernest Streeter.

Shelli, I can't find Robert anywhere in the 1901. Is the name Dayman from his Mother's previous name or was he adopted. Is there anything else you know about him that would help to locate him in 1901. He is not still in the workhouse and I can't find him under Leach either. I have tried all the variants of Dayman and also trawled all through the likely names.

Can you think of anything else?

And I don't understand why, if I can find the marriage between Robert Leach and Phyllis Rosetta Dayman Sept quarter 1898 reg district Tunbridge 2a 1365
And Robert is a widower in the 1901 census. why can't i find a death for Phyllis?

Just seen your post that says they divorced in 1908. Why does he call himself a widower then in 1901. back to the drawing board.

do you know if Albert had any other alias? And do you know what occupation he had. Just wondering if she was 'philandering' before 1908.

Karen in the desert

Karen in the desert Report 19 Aug 2008 15:38

I suppose my best bet for the elusive Florence Whittlesea is to go look at Baptisms in the Parish Registers which I presume would be kept in whichever Records Office nearest to Marylebone??
Aaahh well, that'll have to wait now until my next trip home. I'm going back to the desert on Sat.
