of this women in the shop in amsterdam
its really bothered me , i know im over sensitive but to think that little girl said all she did, and thats a year ago
that would haunt me forever if no one took notice of me at the time

i hope somethings found and maddies safe and they get her back

No one knows whether they followed it up or not Diana. I think the outrage comes mainly from the parents not being informed but that would be because of the strict secrecy laws xx

it must be so frustrating when you give info like that and no one acts, id be constantly asking myself if only,

i remember reading that last year............ would of thought they had followed it up.......... the whole investigation has been a right mess up...... :((

If it is true what that little girl said to the lady in Amsterdam - then God help the McCanns.

This is what BBC news are saying.

"According to one file, Anna Stam, 41, a shop assistant, said she spoke to a girl aged three or four in Amsterdam. She said she resembled Madeleine and said her name was "Maddy". "

In reply to a question about her mother, the girl is said to have remarked: "They took me from my holiday."


I thinks it's disgracefull IF it wasn't followed up.

However, I know damn well that if any child said to me that they had been 'taken' from their parents on holiday, I wouldn't just let it go. I'd question the parents or call the police.



I was once in a park, Saw a man walking with a young boy, Well struggling with him really. The boy was shouting, Leave me alone, I want my mummy. Oh people looked but no-one said anything. I walked over, Bent down to the child and asked him where his mummy was and if he knew the man with him. The child told me that the man was his dad...
As I stood up, Dad looked at me and then said.....
Thankyou, and that he was pleased that I had a 'rather safe than sorry' attitude.

im afraid i would do the same, i dont care if people would say you shouldnt , so many say leave it dont interfere, but i think you have to,
its mad that someone wouldnt
the child would lie about something so strong as that,

its makeing me more mad and stressed the more i think about it,
i just wana grab whoevers looking into it and yell at um , get out there and look forr her,
go round every travelling site, every suspect, did as much as you can

Thanks, I don't believe in taking chances where children are concerned.
Dad was nice about it, I suppose he could see how it looked, The child was kicking up a real fuss, Not your usual tantrum!

But why didn't the women go to the dutch paper when she heard about maddy and that nothing had been done to follow up her line.

Kate no one knows that it wasn't followed up. The assumption is being made that it wasn't but I've yet to read an article that says that officially. xx

she wsa interviewd twice by dutch police who passed it on to portugese police

I've read loads of articles today and though I've read that it wasn't passed to the parents I've not read that the police definately didn't follow it up.

Pretty obvious it wasn't followed up as the women said she heard nothing after reporting it, not sure if she said Dutch police spoke with her but seems not Portuguese police.
How awful to think it could have been her altho her family say she never called herself Maddy, but if the people with her had used that name perhaps she started to as well. The woman said she had dark hair that looked as if it could have been dyed and that her eyes looked dead, sad, disinterested not like a child usually looks.
Why would a child go to her and ask if she knew where her Mummy was, and then say the things she is supposed to have said. Really odd.

When my girls were little we taught them that if they were ever snatched they were to yell "This isn't my Mummy" or "This isn't my Daddy".
It's so easy to assume a child is having a paddy and the adult he or she is with is their parent.

I am haunted by this case too and keep hoping a miracle will happen.

thats good advice sue especially now i got grandaughter to worry about,

i always told our kids to kick and bite if they have to if someone grabbed um,
and run if they able,
but always kept um near me anyway till they were 7-8 ish, then they only played near house in sight,
if they went out as they got older it was always with friends,

it haunts me too, i could admittedly cry for her, you just wana see her dont you and grab her till you get her back to her mam and dad
