My dearest friend lost her husband yesterday to cancer. He was only diagnosed with it last week and died yesterday.

Has anyone got a special poem that I could share with her.

In the last 5 years she has lost her parents, her son and now her husband - its tragic, why does one person have to go through so much pain.....................and others sail through with nothing?

My thoughts are with her.

Jayne,

this is a nice one.....

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land:
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you planned:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Christina Rossetti
1830-1894

Or this....

He is Gone (Remember Me)

You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sun on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn rain
when you awake in the morning hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there I did not die

My thoughts are with your friend Jayne. Some lovely poems here but she may be too shocked to listen to them right now as it was so sudden. why not type them all out and make a little scrap book of thoughts fro her to read later. meanwhile I am sure all she needs is your support and friendship and to be able to talk about her husband to you.

I will nudge up the Remember Me thread as it has lots of lovely verses on - they will bring tears but they will be therapeutic tears when your friend can bring herself to read them.
My thoughts are with her and her family on their sad loss of her husband. So little time to say goodbye.

JAYNE CAN'T THINK OF ANY OTHER POEMS, BUT SENDING CONDOLENCES TO YOUR DEAR FRIEND, HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

SO SAD THAT THEY DIDN'T GET PROPER TIME TO SAY GOODBYE.

MAY HE R.I.P.
