GWEN, DO YOU HAVE YOUR START UP DISC, OR A RECOVERY DISC? I THINK YOU WILL NEED TO DO A RE FORMAT.
YOU COULD TRY THE FORUMS OF WHAT THE TECH, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU HAVE A VERY INFECTED COMPUTER.

FOUND THIS ON THE INTERNET THAT PROVIDED QUITE A BIT OF INFORMATION. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT GWEN DOES NOT HAVE A FULLY UPDATED SYSTEM AND IT IS CONCERNING THAT SHE HAS LOST CONTROL OF HER PC.

I think, even if the e mail says no virus the attachment might still have a virus, am I right in thinking that? Do you remember what the e mail was Gwen so w e can all be prepared.

chances are Gwen got the malware on her computer from an infected site rather than an email attatchment, this is now the most common way to infect a computer with this type of "your computer is infected" pop ups

This site was infected by a similar bit of malware a wee while ago if you remember.

So the computer boots normally untill you have to click on your name to load your settings, then what happens ?

Just spoken to Gwen on the phone. She said the E-mail was from a child holiday web site. Also the e-mail in question was checked and thought to not contain any virus. When Gwen saw the error message is told her it was

Firstly if you see this delete it
secondly If you have had this can you let Dizzi know what you did to fix the problem.

Assuming you have access to the net using another PC download the software in the link I provided above, then transfer it to the infected computer by CD, start you PC in safe mode and install the software then run it. It should clear your problem.
