On Saturday evening a friend of my daughter who shares a house with her was at a meeting after church with four others whena group of three armed thugs burst in on them. They were held captive by one with a pistol while the others took one of the elders at knife-point to his home which they then ransacked before taking him back to the church, they then took cell-phones, a laptop and car keys, locked the people in the church and took off with two motor cars. Very traumatic. People are not even safe in a church.

It's awful isn't it?
My friend is off to Mozambique to see her daughter, who is due to have her first baby any time now, and she has to stay over en route with her ex husband, an English man who once had a big farm in Zimbabwe. He is in Mozambique now, but their daughter is out on the coast, a long drive from her father's home. Mugabe's people took the farm from him and now it has been left to go to ruin, fields overgrown and back to nature, all the equipment stolen or wrecked, he still has the deeds but he is over 60 now and too old to start over, he had to leave with next to nothing.
These countries must be awful to live in when you never feel safe or secure.
