Hello just started reading this and its brilliant. I have been told i'm pere menopausal, evidently meaning i'm gearing up for it. I've got the night sweats, mood swings, enlarging wasteline which i swear just starts appearing out of no where, terrible tiredness, painful boobs and at the grand old age of 44.

So glad there's people that understand on here.

We dont seem to have any new sufferers, which is nice for them, but as we stray off the subject often, the thread has life in it yet.

Hi Pam :)

Hope your thread continues. As you say it used to be a lot of fun. At 25 I'm too young to 'suffer' lol, but look in for tips for my mum.

Oh dear think our little thread may have run it's course...another nudge though just incase there are any ladies suffering with the flushes...feel free to browse the archives of this great little thread. In it's 'heyday', it gave many laughes and light relief to many ladies...and one or two men too I shouldn't wonder... ☺

started wearing pyjamas in bed and have actually found it better although I thought the tshirt style night dresses would have been cooler. it seems because the jamas prevent that awful feeling when even your legs are sweating from being as bad.Wish I had done this a lot sooner

Jean, I'm going to get one of those from Kleen*ze as I have the book popped through the letter box regularly. Be good for applying St Trop*x tanning fluid too!!

I bought myself a lotion applicator on a long handle, for creaming my back after a shower and it works a treat. I put whatever cream or lotion I have handy. Bought it from Klee****ze.

Nizoral is another good shampoo for the itchy flaky scalp, but is quite strong and I found really dries my hair out too much, but it smells nicer than the T Gel.
Oh the trouble we have lol

Back at hospital today, doctor gave me the option of a cast up to my knee or behaving myself 'til Monday when I can have just a little plaster shoe fitted after another x-ray.I chose to wait for Monday ,now I realise I'm not very good on crutches. So here I am sat in front of TV with a stack of books and the thought of weeks with nothing to do.I'll go mad!!

Hi Candie Caine,no sad to say the infections drag on and to add to it I fell down stairs and broke my foot, doesn't need plastered but it's rather sore and difficult to walk on ,and my darling grandaughter knocked my bridge out so I have to have an implant. Can I just rewind back to last year ,this one's been a disaster since day one.Well it'll soon be spring, and hopefully things will get better

I use the T Gel Shampoo when I get the itchy patches. It does work, but does dry out the hair.A couple of washes with it usually does the trick.

Jean (Monmouth)

Jean (Monmouth) Report 5 Mar 2010 19:43

Try a coaltar shampoo. This should ease the itch, and make the hair drier. I use it for psoriasis, with the occasional use of a conditioning shampoo.

Jane Report 5 Mar 2010 19:28

Is it red itchy flaky patches on your scalp Christine? Always in the same place?
I seem to get that every few months.Drives me nuts while I have it.I might try the towel on the pillow,my pillowcases are that satiny material which I'm sure does not help with a sweaty head.I would probably stand in the bowl of water so will give that a miss lol.
Who would be a woman ???? Think I will come back as a cat next time.
