Hot and cold flushes, achey joints, insomnia, memory loss, tension... to name just a few of the things that have hampered my life these past few months!! Any help gratefully appreciated! There must be a few of us hitting this natural but very weird time in our lives!!

I am not saying a word about it..... it would just make you weep!! Well, go on then... mine started at 44.... I am almost 55 and still happening!!

If you can take HRT or any of the other remedies, then try them... I have been unable to, so just have to brazen it out, lol!!

Good luck, and welcome to the happy band, lol!!

I woke in the early hours for my early morning pilgrimage to the loo, but couldn't get back to sleep for the sweats, headache, and my hubby snoring! Why does my hair look like a french pastrie in the morning too?!!

MrDaff Report 9 Apr 2009 13:34

Hello girls, thanks for all the tips and the wonderful response of my plea for help! I'm 54 in May so I guess it's quite late. All my friends are younger than me, lucky buggers, so don't realise the trauma that has suddenly hit me, gawd I sound a moaner...actually yes, that seems to be another sympton, you moan a lot!! Lol. That cake sounds good, but I'm getting fatter too!!

Yes bought some evening primrose oil, the 1000mg, almost spreading the stuff on my toast! Ah well, as my daughter says to me, "It's the most natural thing in the world mum", so I hope I'm around when she gets it to remind her!

Lol Janice.
Well got to go to the shops, my knees are aching so bad today. When I mentioned my aches to the nurse at my surgery, she said it's all down to 'the change'. I really didn't realise you got all these achey joints with it. Also the extreme tiredness too. Then you cant sleep. So can't win can you!

I think I must be from another Planet........I have never had any hot flushes, and I finished my mentral cycle at 41yrs now 64yrs young.,
I did take HRT for 10yrs but happily came off it on Doctors orders as he said *its done its job !!*

But irritability .....well my hubby has got to answer that one...LOL

Thanks for the tip Fran, I'm off to Tescos now and there's a pharmacy in there, so will ask the pharmacist about that tablet. I've got the cod liver oil tablets, so I hope I can get the others in this country.

Wow Marilyn, you were lucky! ☺

I was not too bad, doctor prescribed Dixorit, which stopped the hot flushes. he said he did not recommend me to take HRT.

I had other things to think about at that time, had my Dad ill, and had to look after him. So my problems were put on the back burner.

I am 78 this month.

Don't have much to add but my philosophy was that I never suffered from PMT either.

I just made sure every other b***tard did!!

Lindy Report 9 Apr 2009 16:19

I am 56 and have been on HRT since age 47. My doctor knows that I will not be held responsible for my actions if she every tries to take me off of them again. She has know me for the last 18 years as a patient, and has only once seen me in a flaming temper, which surfaced with the MENopause.

I have had a good chuckle reading this BUT IT IS NOT FUNNY.I seem to have been going through it for ever.Pam stop plucking and have them whipped out by electrolysis. It has been worth it honestly. Some days I feel like S***.My face sweats especially under the eyes and I always seem to be like that in Tes**.I try to look normal but feel that everyone can see this puffing sweating woman!!!!.I will be 55 in July and to think I may still be like it in my 70's..................I can't bear the thought.

Deanna Report 9 Apr 2009 16:57

Pam, I sailed through it... I think.
I had none of the obvious symptoms and did get through it very well.
However.
I have been very ill in one way or another ever since.
So girls take your pick....
suffer now.... or suffer later.
We are women, there is no escape. ;-0)
