Nudge for Mo......

Sallie

Sallie Report 2 May 2009 19:34

Hi Jean and Mo,
Lovely to have you back, Jean - so pleased that you enjoyed your holiday
in Tenby. Haven't been to Tenby for a good few years, we used to go now and again when we were living in S. Wales. We had some good and enjoyable times there, perhaps we will try and go again, in the not too distant future!

Mo has kept this thread going while you were away, just like your old thread was, it is friendly and welcoming. It's been nice chatting to Mo!

Speak again, soon.

Best wishes, Sallie.

Good afternoon ladies. Welcome to a lovely sunny day here in Kent.
I am a bit cheesed of. I planted all my bedding plants yesterday, but forgot to put the slug repellent down,When I went in the garden this morning, the little blighters had had a feast on all my little babies. I know it's a bit late, but have just been out and laid loads of pellets down.I hope they enjoy it as much as they did my plants.
I have done all the dreaded h----w--k,it's all nice and tidy. And I am waiting for Roly to come back from the club, and mess it all up again. I thought it bad, when the children were small, but I am sure he's in his second childhood. Crumbs everywhere, papers all over the place,oh the list is a mile long.
Well girls,I must go and rustle up some grub, before I starve to death, huh
that'll be the day,I got enough fat on me to last a lifetime.
Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx

Morning all, greetings from a warm and sunny Jersey, though the forecast is for cloud and drizzle by the end of the day. Great to see that Jean is back safe and sound within our little community here. Thanks for the PM, Jean.

No great plans for the rest of the day. OH has gone to dig worms and bait with the boys for them all to go fishing, so hope the weather holds for them. Just me and No4 at home, so doing some girlie things at the moment - painting clay models and kicking a football around!!! Not sure where the girl fits into it all. That's what comes of having 3 older brothers.

Weekend has been good. Son No1 had a very successful fishing expedition on Saturday, we all stayed around the house yesterday catching up on jobs in the garden and sorting out homework.

Have a great day everyone. Speak to you all soon.

Hello girls. It's good to hear from you all again.
It's a shame about the frost's getting at the pumpkin vines Marie,I keep forgetting it's your winter now, over there.
I do hope your grandaughter is feeling a little better now,and that she is
completely well for the 6th of May.
And I will add your daughter to my prayers, for her upcoming operation, god willing she will be o.k.
Will you be taking your laptop with you to your daughters?. If you are, please keep us updated,as to how she is.
Ladies we must not forget Marie's birthday,on the 11th of May. So our Jean
as you are the one with the good memory,PLEASE can you give us a reminder. Luvs you Jean.
Well girls,I have had another good day. When we got up this morning,it was lovely again. So we decided to go down to Ramsgate, and watch the ferries go in and out. They have improved the port, but all the changes they
promised along the front, have not even been started. We walked up to the town, and hey presto, another ghost town. Most of the big stores have closed down.
It's all very well building big out of town centers, but the poor businesses
at the heart of places, cannot keep up.
We were so lucky,it started to rain on our way home.
I must remember to pm Marilyn,as we have not heard a lot from her since her operation,I do hope she is well.
So my lovely ladies,I will love and leave you all. Sending you all,my very best wishes. Love Mo xxx

Hello everyone,
Hope you are all enjoying the Bank Holiday!

Like some other parts of the country, weather isn't very good here either, cold and damp. Haven't been out today - daughter and son-in-law came for dinner, so that was nice.
It was great to see my daughter eating - she suffers from Crohn's disease, and not long come out of hospital after another flare up, third one in six months. So when she's eating well, I know she's alright.

Speak to you all soon. Best wishes.
Sallie.

Well, ladies, my OH and I are likely to be up to our elbows in s**t this afternoon. The sewer line down to our septic tank seems to be blocked. It has happened in the past when fibrous roots from some trees have got into it. Not the nicest job clearing it out. Dont want to pay a fortune for somebody else to come and do it though.

Huia.

Hello All

A big welcome back to Jean glad you had a nice time. I hate all the washing when you been away but it has to be done. OH dosent do the packing or unpacking so seems to have a couple more days holiday.

Debbie how great your Son won great feeling for all. My Son got to two big finals before but didnt win either, mind you we were still proud watching him play at our local football grounds.

Mo your oh sounds like mine he makes more mess than both sons. He went away a couple of weeks ago and the house stayed tidy so I pointed this out on his return. He has got a sweet tooth and I find wrappers eveywhere.

Oh Huia your afternoon sound like fun (not) I know when they use to empty the septic tank at work I was glad we didnt have one at home. Hope it is sorted out quickly .

Marie hope you do celebrate your 70th in some way, I had a very difficult time just before I turned 40 a couple of years ago and told everyone I didnt want to do anything. But my sister inlaws and a couple of close friends took me out for a meal. It was low key but just what I needed, and looking back now I am gratefull to them.

Well it is a grey cold and a bit wet here which I dont mind today as I am at work allday. Kids are back to school . Eldest starts cricket tonight so I am hopeing he will enjoy that.

Yesterday was like a sceen from birds in my back garden. About 10 birds didnt leave my bird feeded alone untill they had cleared it of the food we had put out. Not sure what they were (medium size black) but they wouldnt let my robins or blue bird near. OH gets cross with me feeding the wild bird but I like to see them.

Well must go and get ready .

Bye for now Sue

Good evening ladies.
Sallie,It was good to hear that your daughter enjoyed her meal. How long has she had Chron's Disease?. It must be very debilitating for her. I hope you are well in yourself.
Huia,Septic Tanks are a flaming nuisance arn't they. My daughter lived in a house that had a Cess Pit,in fact it was a new estate they built. And instead of putting in main drains, they built them all with Cess Pits. So they had to pay every time they were emptied. In the end,all the neighbours got together, and paid to have mains put in. It was not easy,as she has three daughters, and with her and her OH,you can imagine what went down that cess pit every day, yuk sorry to lower the tone girls.
Sue,I hope your son enjoyed his cricket. My boys never got into it,to my OH
dissapointment,he loved to play, and will watch it whenever he can.
I love to watch the birds in the garden as well. Especially first thing in the
morning, just as it is getting light.
Hi there Marilyn, good to hear from you. I mean't to pm you yesterday,to find out how you were. But I hold my hands up,and admit,I forgot SORRY.
How did you get on at the hospital?. Did they take your stitches for you?
I bet it feels a lot better now doesn't it. I must apologise for not contacting you before,I feel really bad about it.
Well our lovely Jean, how's you today? I hope you have not been overdoing
things. What dont get done today, will wait till tommorrow.
What you said about your grandson, made me chuckle. I have a son like that. As soon as he comes in the house,he heads straight for the freezer,
opens it,closes it,and walks away. When I asked him why he did it,he didn't even realise he was doing it. Like you,I wouldn't mind, but he no longer lives at home. Cheeky so and so.
I have not been feeling to great today. I woke with a stinking cold, and I need a nose bag to catch the drips. Roly says he is going to keep a close eye on me,what with all this swine fever about. But it is only a cold, bless him for caring.
Thats enough of me waffling again. I will speak to you all later. Love and best wishes to you all. Mo xxx Special ~~~~~~~~~for Jean~~~~~~~~~

Jean and all who have wondered about my name: I live in New Zealand and the Huia is an extinct bird. My parents named all 4 of their daughters after NZ birds: Tui (the parson bird), Riro (short for riroriro the grey warbler) and the 4th was Tiora (stitchbird which is more commonly known by the Maori as Hihi or Tihi - imagine being called that - pronounced heehee or teehee!) My name is pronounced hoo-ee-ah, more or less.

Heteralocha acutirostris (to give my latin name)
