Oooh Jean, could you please send us a little bit of your rain, it's been absolutely sweltering here for days now, and overnight it's unbearably hot and humid. No I know I shouldn't complain, but good grief I am sweating buckets, and oh what I would give for a good nights sleep.

We went over to our son's new house today, it's very expensive rent wise, but he needs a three bedroom house for when he has all four children to stay overnight.
It's really lovely, and considering he has had to start again from scratch, he has done marvels.
He went to pick Lilly up from school, and we stayed at his whilst he did it. When she walked in, she was under the impression that it was our house, and wanted to know where our bed was. Bless her, it's so hard on little ones when their parents split up, understanding whats happening between the parents.
She needed to go to the loo, and went haring up the stairs, only to have to be told, no, the loo is downstairs in this house. LOL

Well girls farewell from a very hot sweaty Kent, take care, hugs Mo xxx

I have just wrote a reply and whoosh its gone , I was telling you all about the
horrendous storm we have had it started at 6.30 and only just stopped at 9pm
we have never seen such a storm , first came very dark clouds, then sheet lightening, followed by fork lightening no thunder it went on and on, then the thunder came and finally torrential rain it was quite frightening at one point, I hate to think about the flooding in the area, its now very still and quiet....I hope it doesnt come again...

hope you all are ok. love Jean xx

Oh Sylvia, your unexpected visitors turning up early made me laugh. It's like being on the loo, when the phone rings, and by the time you pull your undies up, the caller has hung up.
Oh sooo frustrating when in the mind you had everything planned out for their arrival LOL
But my thinking is, you take me as you find me, or don't bother to call at all.
Enjoy their visit for however long it lasts.
I loved it last year, when my cousin from Australia came over for a visit. It was the first time we had ever met.
Fortunately, she had booked into a hotel, for the few days she was here, so we just tidied up a bit indoors, for when we bought her back for coffee and a chat. No bedrooms needed sorting, or new bedding put on, phew, such a relief.

Sallie my love, thank you so much for the beautiful card. You certainly have not lost your excellence in making them, even though you may think you have, you certainly haven't.
I hope you are keeping well darlink.

I send my love and hugs to you all. Carry on enjoying this wonderful weather for those of us in the U.K, and for our overseas friends, I hope the weather is treating you kindly.

Hi everyone

thank you for your welcome "back" :-D :-D

We have visitors this weekend ....... OH's cousin-by-marriage, widowed ca 3 years ago, and his new partner, though we're not sure if they're actually living together.

He said first they would be here Friday to Monday, then last weekend said they would arrive on Saturday (no departure day given). So we pottered slowly, getting the house ready ............ we're not good housekeepers!

I can't do very much, and OH hates it as much I used to do, but he just doesn't do it, and I can't complain. We do keep kitchen and bathrooms clean and bedroom dusted, but ................

So OH dropped me back at home on Friday afternoon at about 3:30 pm after coffee and banking, and then went to do the weekly shop. That's when I saw a phone message timed 3:10pm ............... they were about 2½ hours away :-0

Their bedroom and bathroom were cleaned but needed linens, kitchen clean, carpets vacuumed, but rest of house untidy and needing to see a duster. I finished the bathroom, and put out the towels, and then waited. OH got home at 5 pm, we put away the groceries, and he went to make up the bed.

They arrived at 5:30 pm, just as he'd finished the room

All plans went by the board!!!!

Ah well, they came to see us, not the house .............. and cousin does know us, partner has learnt!!!!

Today, they have gone off to see partner's nephew who is living in Vancouver for a short time.

I had a look at the range of glasses on line Ann, so I had an idea which I would have
I have told J one lot is bright pink, and brown stripes for the other,;- ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Mo sounds a nice break for you both, pity about the journey home but thats what most roads are like these days, D has gone away for a few days so I am pleased she has,
she gets tired now with all the travelling she does.......
the weather forecast seems ok, so I am sure she will have a nice rest....

not much news here , always nice to see the park and usually there are band concerts and also heritage weekend lots of the various places will be open to have a look at.

J has gone to church I am just having a read and maybe do some sorting out in the craft room. lazy day so who knows what I will do perhaps nothing cos I can :-D :-D

Sylvia so glad you are putting up with us again :-D :-D :-D :-D

cuppa calling so bye for now Love Jean xxx <3 <3 <3

Mo so pleased that you enjoyed your break and had good weather. Pity about the journey though. (And the washing! C'esr la vie!)

Hello girls, I am back from a few days away.
Last Monday we took ourselves off to Yarmouth for a few days. We arrived home at about 9.30 p.m last night, after getting stuck in traffic following a bad accident at the end of M25, and the the traffic was miles long over the Queen Elizabeth bridge, and further along. What a nightmare, we were so relieved to get home, it took us over three hours, whereas it's normally about a two to two and a half hour journey, depending on traffic.
It was a wonderful break away, and the weather was so kind to us for a change, in fact at one time it was sooo hot we had to walk in the shade out of the sun.
The only trouble being trying to get the washing dried today, because of the rain. Mind you, I have managed to get three lines full dried and ironed, and I feel like I need another holiday, just to get over the effort of today.
I do hope you are all well, I send you all my very best wishes, love and hugs Mo xxx

Ann the walk to and from the car nearly finished me, your walks were one step to far for me . :-D :-D :-D good on you both...

I wonder how Sallie is and Mo and Marie and everyone else who may look in....

Sounds good Sylvia. That distance is about our limit and for the last quarter mile my sciatica made itself felt. We will keep doing it as long as we both can. We were the only couple walking, the rest, male and female were on their own. Don't know if they are single or have partners.

Ann ............ that sounds a great walk! Beyond me, I'm afraid!!

OH's cousin-by-marriage and his new partner are visiting us this coming weekend. B and partner quite a bit younger than us, and both are mountain climbers, while OH loves walking. I think I'm going to send the 3 of them off on Sunday to one of two local places to walk while I stay home.

The local paper has an article this morning on some old growth forest which is quite close, in a valley just on the other side of the harbour, and seemingly hardly anyone knows about it although it is a protected area with 12 km of paved walk and lots of trails. Somehow the area escaped the logging that took place from about 1886 t0 the 1990s.

I think they would enjoy it!

We do keep slithering down the boards so I shall just rescue us again.
Should be doing a bit of gardening really this afternoon as it is lovely out there, one of those warm and sunny autumn days. However, all I have done in the garden today is to take a few photos of the remaining flowers. didn't have the energy to do anything else. My legs ache, we went for a 4.5 mile walk this morning, just a local walk with the U3A, 12 of us walking. was not impressed to have to get through a group of frisky nosy bullocks (I think they were). However it was a good walk, flat but a bit muddy in places and rough walking through a couple of fields with public footpath running through them, about 4 or five stiles too and we are all retired so no young ones among us. OH and a couple more gents were available to hoist us over the stiles. And one of the gents was admirable with his stick fending off the cattle. We started and finished at the golf club so ended up with all twelve of us having drinks and in some cases lunch. T and I shared a lovely bowl of hot chunky chips. Thereby undoing all the hard work of walking the calories off this morning.

T seems to have found some more energy and has gone off to play nine holes of golf.

Oh how sad Ann. It's strange the saying about hearing of a death and a birth, around the same time, nearly always occurs like this doesn't it.
You lucky girl getting your sales bargains again at M+S. I had a quick look yesterday, but there was so many people rooting through the racks, I couldn't even get close enough to have a look.
Typical of me, I was looking round trying to find some new maxi dresses, but all the Autumn clothes are now in stock, so I ended up by just getting a top in Romans, and no dresses at all.
Like you, we have had a wonderful day weather wise. It's so nice not to have to take a cardigan, or jacket out to wear as it's been glorious sunshine. Fingers crossed it lasts a while longer.
I can't believe it's almost the weekend again. Good lord the time flies by now we are retired, one week rolls into the next before we realise it.

Take care everyone, hugs to you all.

AnninGlos Report 1 Sep 2016 14:35

It was a sad day yesterday as our neighbour (in her 80s and very fragile) next door had a heart attack. The ambulance and paramedic were both here very quickly and stayed here over two hours, they did all they could but were unable to save her. Her husband, also in his 80s is not well himself, he thought he had problems with one of his eyes but the eye clinic could find nothing wrong so he has been referred to the neurological clinic next week, he feels and looks drunk most of the time. Luckily his daughter who lives on her own, has moved in with him at the moment.. We are wondering when the funeral will be as we have so much booked for next week.
Also today the young couple opposite have a new baby in the house, not sure if it was born today or yesterday or what sex it is. Need to know so I can make a card. They already have a little girl about 2.

Today 1 September, the first day of autumn and a lovely bright, warm sunny day. We went into town as I had a chiropodist appointment. Went to M&S and struck lucky in their sale. Got a pair of white footglove sandals reduced right down from £39.50 to £13.49, a pair of bikini boy shorts bottoms in black reduced from £16 to £3.99 and a Per Una top reduced from £29.50 to £12.49. I was well pleased with these bargains. Had lunch in Wetherspoons.

Hi girls,

Thank you Sylvia for your Anniversary Wishes and also thank you Mo, Jean and Ann for your lovely cards.....it is really nice to be thought of, thank you.

We have had a quiet day at home, with it being the Bank Holiday and that it would probably be busy everywhere, we decided that we would wait until all of the family are together and we can all go out for a meal then.

Hope that you are all okay and that you have all had a good weekend.

Love and hugs. Sallie.xxx <3 <3 <3
