Mo in Kent Report 10 Jul 2016 18:12

Oh my lord, I had forgotten Jean and Sallies birthdays, whats the flamin matter with me, please forgive me girls.
My head seems to be elsewhere lately, and I would not forget on purpose.

Good luck Sylvia, I hope all goes well for you my love. The colonoscopy as you know is not so bad, but the thought of the camera down the throat gives me the creeps.
On Tuesday I have to go for another ultra sound scan, like you, they don't know how the heck to treat me, as they are not sure whats really wrong.
I shall keep you in my prayers Sylvia, for a good outcome.

Cooee our Sallie, you have no idea how good it is to hear from you sweetheart.
When we don't hear for a while, we all become concerned for your health.
We luvs you girl, so just drop us a line now and again, when you feel up to it, as we miss you sooo much.

Ann, I think the South East has been extremely lucky weather wise. It has been lovely and sunny and warm here again today.
I shall try and send a few rays up to you tomorrow, if it's still sunny.

Speak to you all tomorrow girls, hugs Mo xxx

Sylvia, good luck with your hospital visit. I hope it is less unpleasant than it sounds.

Sallie, thank goodness to see you. We always get so very concerned when you don't pop on to say hello. Maybe if we could actually have a summer you would feel better. The weather is really abysmal for July isn't it. (And I see Sylvia's weather is no better). Do come back on here and check. And, I have just seen Liz's thread. have we missed your birthday. So sorry if we have? <3 <3 <3

Sallie Report 10 Jul 2016 02:48

Hello to everyone,

It's a long time since I have been on GR, I can't sleep so thought I'd have a look at the threads and seen this one and the Wales thread.

I am still struggling along and most days find it difficult to concentrate on writing messages and making cards, so thought I would try and write a short message to you all.

Sylvia, hope that all goes well for you on Monday afternoon and that the results are good. Good Luck! Will be thinking about you.<3

Mo, Jean, Ann and Huia, I hope that you and your families are all okay. I will try and read back tomorrow and hopefully will be able to post later.

Love and best wishes to everyone. Sallie.xxx <3 <3 <3

Hi everyone

Not too much going on here. Weather is the pits ............ it has been very chilly for the last couple of weeks. Thank heavens I didn't put all my winter sweaters away!! The lighter weight ones that I kept out have been very useful.

I don't think that I have worn high necked long sleeved sweaters and a down vest (gilet?) so far into the summer as I have this year :-(

I've just completed a week of no nuts or seeds, tomorrow is a clear liquids only day (clear broths and jelly allowed, but not red or orange jelly). I go for a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy on Monday afternoon ............. that's the camera from both ends :-(

Maybe we'll find something out now!

Take care everyone.

Huia, your head would be priceless, with all your knowledge trapped inside, no one could afford it my love, you are a priceless, wonderful lady.
Good to hear you had a nice time though love\.

Huia

Huia Report 9 Jul 2016 06:53

We spent about 1hr30 looking round the fair and half an hour having a cuppa and chatting to another lady. Neither of us bought anything, although if I had had almost $4500 I could have bought a stuffed Huia head (male). I wonder how much my head would be worth?

Hello all, tis moi,

It's good to hear from you Huia, I hope you enjoyed the Antique fair, both yourself and your postie. Good grief the poor woman does work hard doesn't she.
Did you manage to find any goodies to buy, or did you just spectate?
I love looking around, but don't often feel the need to buy, it's just curiosity that draws me to them. Yes I am a nosy mare.

Oh Ann, what a disappointment for me with T being so busy, I don't mind waiting LOL after all, I have waited all this time for Roly to get his bum in gear.
Mind you, he has done a few jobs recently, but none that I need doing, just bits to please himself.

Right Jean, my next holiday is going to be up at your place, can you book us in please, but we must have single rooms coz of Roly's snoring.
Breakfast at 8.00 a.m would be lovely, and the evening meal at 6.00 p.m , I am not expecting much am I.
My darts are getting very erratic now Jean, I am lucky if I can hit the dart board on a good day. We have put a darts board up in the dining room, for me to practice, but it just isn't working, this blessed arthritus (sp) is a devil.

We have had another glorious day today, and all the windows are still open to cool us down a bit.

Sending big HUGS to our Sallie if she is looking in.

Bye for now my cyber friends, hugs from me to you, Mo xxx

Huia

Huia Report 8 Jul 2016 08:12

hello, Mo and others. As Ann said, I have been busy on FB.

Tomorrow I am going to meet my postie at 1.30 at Drury (Bernie is a she). There is an antique fair on and she loves going to them. Not that we usually spend up big. I might buy a few old postcards if I see any interesting ones, but it is the fun of saying "my grandmother used to have one of those" or "I have a flour sifter like that at home", and the companionship. Bernie is a lovely woman and she doesnt get to many things, being a rural delivery postie. Gets up about 4.30 in the morning, drives ever so many kilometres delivering, finishing with a return to the mail centre in Papakura with the collected mail afterwards, about 3pm I would imagine. 6 days a week she works.

Mo, what a shame about your holiday. I thought most of these companies these days didn't let to single sex groups. I hope your daughter gets a refund on the holiday, it sounded awful. Disappointing for her though.

No, sorry you can't borrow him, still plenty here for him to do, and then when he has done that there is daughter, then grandson, all with jobs lined up for him. He has been concreting something in the garden this afternoon so no doubt will be tired this evening.

Enjoy your ham salad, I always start by thinking salad is an easy meal but by the time it is all on the plate realise that it takes a time to prepare. We have haddoxk fillets in mushroom sauce with jacket potatoes and sweetcorn this evening. :-) :-)

Mo in Kent Report 7 Jul 2016 16:33

Hi there everyone, yes I am still alive and kicking. It's been very quiet on here hasn't it.
We had a few days break down at Camber Sands, paid for by our daughter as a treat.
So a shame it didn't live up to expectations, just our luck again.
We arrived on the Wednesday afternoon, and the chalet was lovely and clean, and it was so peaceful.
We went down for the evening meal, as it was all included in the price. On the menu was greasy pork chops covered in some sort of sauce, gammon that was as thin as a wafer, or roast beef all with carvery trimmings. Well girls, we could not cut the beef, apart from trying to eat it, and all the vegetables were cold. They couldn't spoil the dessert's as they were cold.
At 11.30 that night, we hadn't been in bed long, when the occupants of the chalet above us, decided to move the furniture around, and were still doing it at 2.30 in the morning, so as you can imagine we got very little sleep.
We went down for breakfast, thinking they can't surely ruin a fried breakfast, how wrong could we have been, once again it was cold.
We went to reception and complained, about both meals. as they were shut by the time we had finished our evening meal the night before.
We took ourselves into Hastings for the day, and decided that we would buy fish and chips, rather than chancing having another cold meal.
When we arrived back at the chalet, we were treated to booming music from upstairs, and them screaming and joking with each other. As it was a nice evening I decided I would take a chair outside and read my book. Suddenly there was screams and shouts from above us, and a trainer came over the balcony just missing me, and three yobs laughing their heads off.
We went up to the amusement center for a while, to get away from the noise, and when we got back to the chalet, we decided to cut our losses and come home. When we returned the keys to security, we told them the reason for our departure, and they were going to keep a check on things, and apologised for our spoilt break.
We told our daughter how sorry we were to cut the time short, and she has sent an e.mail of complaint to the company, so now we shall wait and see what happens.
We feel so bad that she paid out for this break, and had to cut it short for our own sanity.

Anyway my lovelies, hows things with you all.

It sounds like our Jean has been enjoying herself, singing along with the band, and sending J out so that he could dance all by himself to the music, come on now sweetheart, get your dancing shoes and go with him next time. LOL

Sounds to me like Ann, has got the whip out and got poor T fitting new lights up for them, cor she's a right slave driver.....ahem Ann, there's loads need doing here still, can I please borrow him, I will feed and water him regularly, I promise. LOL

Now whats happened to Sylvia,Huia, Marie, and our Sallie, they are all on the missing list, I do hope they are all well.

Well my loves, I am going to prepare the dinner for this evening, Ham Salad, so it's an easy one, no cooking involved, apart from the potato's.
Take care everyone, hugs to you all, Mo xxx

Hi Jean, I am on facebook and so is Mo, I did see her on there last week, she had phone problems but seemed ok. Sallie is not on there I don't think and not sure about Marie. Huia is on there and always busy with her family photos etc. It is a shame that this thread has seemed to lose momentum.

I envy you your band in the park, I love brass bands. Although my favourite is military bands, especially the Royal Marines. When we lived in Bedfordshire we used to go to the Annual RM concert in the Albert Hall - wonderful! And when working with the RAF back in the 80s, we always used to go to watch the parades on the parade ground where there was always a band. Happy days!

Busy day today, first the weekly food shop, - that is always exhausting.
then, last week we got and OH fitted two new ceiling pendants in the lounge, the old ones were about 30 years old and are waiting to go to the tip. So this morning we decided the three matching (to the old lights) wall lights had to be changed. A visit to B&Q and OH is now fitting the wall lights. I can hear hammering and groaning so I guess he is on the outer wall trying to get screws in. Anyway it will all look good when done.

followed that by a visit to a small local garden centre where we bought a few plants to unfill parts of the garden. Stopped there for a coffee and shared a sandwich. Adjoining this garden centre and run by the man who owns it, is The Butterfly garden, an educational and landskills project launched in 2002, all sorts of things there apparently, veg gardens, classroom, chickens, cows and ducks. It is open to all students with learning difficulties, currently over 60 a week. They built a cabin and run it as a charity shop for the scheme. It just shows what the dreams and ideas of one man can achieve.

I have been thinking of my father who was in wwi , he was gassed and sent home in a terrible state he never had a days peace after it, he couldnt breathe, I recall seeing him sobbing and saying "I would have been better if I had died out there" I was a youngster but the memory of how much he struggled, crawling home from work, sitting on the bottom step of the stairs and hadnt the energy to go up to bed, finally dying and at peace at last <3 <3 <3
