all's well over here, we've just got some warm weather, after having to have the heating on in the house for the last 12 or so days.

I wwas around until 12 th June Jean when we went to the Lake District for two weeks. while we were there our third great Grandchild was born. Jess had a little girl weighing 8 Lbs 5.5 Oz on 19th June. Inara Sarah Kaylee. She is gorgeous and I had a few cuddles while staying with daughter. We were very lucky with the weather up there and only had a couple of days when it rained. We had a lot of sun in the second week which allowed OH to do a lot of jobs in the bungalow and in the garden for Lynda.
The weather at home while we were away was mostly wet sow e came back to a jungle, long grass and triffids instead of shrubs. all sorted now as we spent a few hours today out there.
good to see you back Jean, we slack while you are away. :-D :-D :-D

Huia Report 25 May 2016 06:50

We have slipped down to page 3, or is it 4? Anyway this will bring it up again.

I spent the whole afternoon down the road at a 'neighbour's' (over 2 km) place as she had visitors who used to live there back in the 50s and 60s, and we were talking over old times and looking at photos.

When I looked in last night (on page 2!) I saw my last post about the eyes was number 9995, so I decided I would see if I could make the record 10,000. I did it. I am the champ! ;-)

LOL Huia, you are a gal, did you want to ensure you were the 10,000th person to comment, bless you love.
Glad to hear that your sight is doing o.k.
Wonderful that you are in credit with your power company, these bills are something we all dread receiving.
We know for a fact that our gas bill is going to be higher this quarter, as we have had the central heating on constantly.
Even despite paying in advance, the winter bills come to more than we pay, but it evens out during the other months.
But if we have to pay the difference, so be it, we can't be cold, not at our ages.

Cooee Ann, I hope you are both enjoying yourselves. Don't get to sunburnt, and keep Uzzi's O.H in check. LOL

Now where has our esteemed leader Jean got to lately, I do hope that herself and J are both well.

I hope that Sylvia and Marie are doing o.k.

Sending love to our Salle <3 <3 <3

Bye for now me dears take care, hugs Mo xxx

Huia Report 13 May 2016 22:02

I am still in the land of the living. The eye clinic checked my eyes on Monday. I have lost a bit of vision in the upper right area, but the doc said I dont need to look up there anyway (hasnt he heard of magpies and other birds attacking?)

Yesterday the woman from St John came to check my alarm, it is still working fine. She said I was looking miles better than when she last saw me.

I got a statement from the power company. I had been dreading it as all of them this year have seemed very high and I have questioned them and had to read the smart (huh!) meter so they could send a corrected bill, as the meter is just sending error messages. Anyway, the new one says I am in credit!! I phoned to check that I had read it correctly and he said it is now being read manually (as I requested) and they went back over several months and found I had over-paid. Yahoo, another low bill next month. Now I just have to sort out my rates bill and find out what happened about the rates rebate I should have had this year.

I have started a new FB page, a precis of dad's album which consists of diary plus photos plus maps plus newspaper cuttings plus....... I am not looking for comments on it (they can be made on the photos or on my own page) but I dont mind 'likes'. It is going to keep me busy in my spare time (whatever that is).

Oh Sallie, what good news re Alun and Christie, onwards and upwards now for them both, and for you my love.
Now it's time for you to relax, and concentrate on yourself sweetheart, every day gets you a little further forward, even though it may not seem like it at times, I have every faith in you beating this black dog given time and patience.

Things have not changed within the family, eldest daughter still finds it hard to speak to me, and our son and his wife are still separated.
Lilly has had to have glasses, as it was discovered at school that she has problems with both her eyes, she looks so cute in her glasses, we just hope that she keeps them on, and doesn't throw them away in one of her paddies that she is prone to.

Well it's the weekend again girls, how time seems to fly by.
Enjoy yourselves if you have anything special organised, take care girls, hugs to you all, Mo xxx

Sallie Report 12 May 2016 23:33

Hi girls,

Sorry I haven't got back to you all before now, I am so tired after all the running back and fore the hospital every day. Why do all the big hospitals seem to have the car parks so far from the department we need? And lots of corridors to walk through to get to the lifts.

Alun came home yesterday, five days after his operation. His consultant and his registrar, and all the nursing staff have been brilliant, we can't thank them enough for all the care he has been given by them all.

Christie, is feeling a lot better thank goodness, after all the tests and having a MRI, they think that it all had to do with all the stress and anxiety she has had over the last few months, with the wedding and the death of her nan that she suffered some physical symptoms and panic, so made things a lot worse. Thank you all for asking and thinking about both her and Alun.

Ann, I hope that you and T had a lovely holiday, and are feeling the benefit of your break.

Sylvia, hope that all the wildfires are now under control, it must have been so devastating for the people that lost everything.

Mo, hope that everything is okay with both you and Roly, and that the family problems
are starting to improve. Thinking about you all.

Huia, hope everything is okay with you and your family.

Jean, hope that everything is going well for both you and J and that all is well with D and family.

Marie, it seems a long time since we have spoken to you. Hope that everything is well with you and all your family. Also Happy Birthday, and hope that you had a great day.

Speak to you all again soon.

Take care everyone.

Love, Sallie. xxx <3 <3 <3

The power was off from about 11:30 am to 5:15 pm .............. just under 6 hours.

The fridge freezer was not opened, the standing freezer in the basement was open for a couple of minutes while OH got the lamb out.

The fridge was opened 4 or 5 times for 1 or 2 minutes a time ......... but we don't have many spoil-ables in there.

I think we're OK ...... even the ice cream in the fridge freezer had not softened when I got it out after dinner.

I think we're fine ............... they usually say 48 hours for a full freezer, 24 hours if it is half-full. Both the fridge freezer (below the fridge) and the big freezer are about 90% full.

The time for a fridge is about 4 hours according to most experts ......... but I still think we're OK. I'll smell my cold meat tomorrow before I make my lunch sandwich!
