Big Shot just does the same as the CB but I think its a lot sturdier as the side of my CB keeps flying off :-D I have even used my CB B plates in with my Big Shot.
Can use most dies and folders in most machines now, just got to build up shims.
Mine do get a hammering as do lots for the classes plus have just finished 50 cards for a shop plus two craft fayres now need more cards made phew :-)

xx Jill

How lovely for you. I'm really envious as I've looked to buy one but haven't done so yet.

I picked up a cuttlebug forum on the twopeasinabucket.com site. Mainly because Iw as trying to find somewhere that I can buy replacement cutting boards as my Bs are getting very warped. They say to alternate sides on them, I read somewhere that this caused them to crack. Any thoughts?

Hello Linda, good to see you on here, and with useful advice for Jean too.

Nice to see Jill on here too, also with advice.

Jean, don't worry about what your family will do with it all after you depart, just enjoy it while you are here. They can always bundle it all up and give to the nearest school/art college or charity shop. Loads of places will take the stuff. I often give bits to my neighbour who works in an infants school. They are pleased with anything. I give her all the plastic tops off bottles (tonic, lemonade, coke milk etc etc.) She says it is amazing what the children use them for.

I shall now be eyeing up the big shot, although my cuttlebug is going ok at the moment. Jill what can the bigshot do that the CB can't, for an ordinary crafts person not mass producing? :-D

Hi Jill, how are you, I know I said I would wind up the crafting, my thought was at my age( 77) how would my family get rid of all the stuff if I should pop my clogs....but I do love doing it all, although I dont have any sales just give them to charity shops and the Hospice, I get so many ideas and cant wait to do them...
so I will just get rid of some of the stock bit by bit... you know I wondered about Big Shot maybe I will have a look at it.... thanks for telling me .

love Jean xx

Just had a look at the Big shot, a lot cheaper than grand calibra, can you use all the dies and embossing folders that we have on the cuttlebug?

Hello to you all, just been having a read :-)

Jean, you cannot close up your craft room, perhaps just have a rest of a few weeks then have a play :-)
I do have to add an old envelope or folded piece of paper as an extra shim with some dies when using the cuttlebug but do find my Big Shot so much easier now I have sussed out the right layer for memory box dies. I would never buy another CB but the Big shot I now cannot do without.
I am now the proud owner of a Cameo and that is brilliant for cutting templates ready for my class as we do use a lot of unusual shaped cards that my friend Sara designs on her forum. I used to make my class cut them by hand and that took a big chunk of their time plus some not able to cut the designs very well by hand.
Hope you don't mind me adding

x Jill

Ann, first question I dont know if there is a forum to ask the question, the dies are new ones from Memory Box, And I cut several then they stopped cutting on one side, put a card in as well and still miscutting , tried another die and that faild to cut all over , so did some enbossing all fine... ???? by then I was fed up so put it away may have another go tomorrow...... I will let you know how I get on...

AnninGlos Report 21 Aug 2012 21:49

Is there a cuttlebug site with a forum anywhere Jean?
Have you used those particular dies a lot, could they have got blunt?
Are the plates still OK?
Do the rollers look as if they are still the same. Try the same dies but insert a piece of card between two of the paltes, to push the dies harder.

JustJean Report 21 Aug 2012 19:48

I have been doing some die cutting, and my cuttlebug seems not to be cutting right , I have some dies that dont cut very well, but Memory Box and Marrianne are no problem at all. so now I am wondering if the rollers are not doing their job... has anyone else had the same trouble...I finished up with two or three die cut shapes not cut through, so I have coloured the shapes with whispers and they look o.k.but upset about the shapes not cut through....I am seriously thinking of getting the Grand Calibur.....has anyone got that?
