Hello to whoever drops in. Nice day here. Showers forecast, but none seen as yet. It was 9c when I awoke this morning and found it hard to get out of bed. The forecast doesn't promise any more than 16c, although we have a clear blue sky and lovely sunshine. Thankfully, no wind, so if we can sit in the sunshine, it can feel quite warm - better still, behind glass!

we had a nice day here, after heavy rain overnight, and another heavy "shower" at around 9 am. The sun came out by mid-morning, and the temperature got up to around 21C in the afternoon


We have the same problem here with our youngsters ........ the difference might be though that the governments (provincial and federal) are now making an effort to get youngsters to enter apprenticeships.

They're pointing out that electricians, plumbers, etc, can earn incomes close to $100,000 a year once they become Journeymen

Even apprentices are earning quite high salaries as they do their training .............. which involves both classes at college and work experience.



I love Linda's spelling when she is away!!!

I wondered about the "brood lunch", and why they would be chagrined :-D :-D

Not a lot different here although I think it's a little better. Young people aren't going into trades and small businesses can't always afford an apprentice - a vicious circle.

My sister's son didn't do well at school - he was not very clever academically and he left school as soon as he could. He managed to get some work as a trainee landscape gardener after being unemployed for quite awhile. He is doing ok now but it took awhile.

I must be off now, Tec. I'm driving my son into Uni as the parking is horrendous and it's one more thing for him to worry about.

I hope very much that your son does well in his exams, he deserves to after the hard work put in. It will be good for you to see him achieve his goals.

There is a programme on at the moment about the plight of young people in Britain today. Employers are saying that the standard of education of school leavers is not good enough, and many are un-employable - even if there were jobs to be had.

Not all youngsters want to go to university, or achieve the grades to get there.
What is wanted is apprenticeships for the trades, because there will always be young people who are not academically bright, but could learn a trade.
I feel very sorry for our young people, and their future.

No I'm not too worried about Australia becoming one with Asia. I'm not planning on being around in a million years :-D

My son starts his exams today - he is feeling very nervous although he has put in a great deal of work. He has had some very good marks for his projects so he should know his stuff.

Maybe you've got a winter bug - I hope it doesn't linger, and the cough soon goes. Those type of headaches are horrible. :-0

It was very warm here today, 24 C, and supposed to be warmer tomorrow, although rain is forecast for Thursday.

I was reading an article that said that in a million years Australia will collide with Asia, and become one big land mass. Don't suppose you're that bothered really :-D

I had a very restless night as I was coughing but apart from that headache you get from coughing I don't feel too bad - thank you.

Hello Sue - Are you feeling any better today? I hope so.

I should be told off really :-( but I couldn't resist that clock.
It's not my fault that nobody bought it in recent weeks :-D maybe I was destined to have it.
It wouldn't look right in a modern home, but we don't do modern, and I just know my daughter will say "Another museum piece" but I don't care :-D

Tec - I was going to tell you off for buying the clock but it sounds lovely. As one who often gives in to temptation I can't point the finger at you :-D

Enjoy your last morning on Cyprus, and have a good journey home - the time seems to have passed very quickly, and we will really miss having to decipher your hilarious posts :-D.

Talking of time - I was extremely naughty today. For a few weeks I have had my eye on a wall clock for sale in the local junk/antique shop.
I kept hoping it would be sold every time I passed the shop :-)
Today walking past the shop I saw that it was still there. I'm afraid I gave into temptation and went in to talk to the man in the shop.
Needless to say, after negotiating a good deal, I ended up buying it.
Dare I go home I thought :-D we have so many clocks.
I needn't have worried as the Duchess loves it too.
It's an Art Deco clock in a beautiful oak case, typical Art Deco face, with a small pendulum. Doesn't strike or chime, which is good because we have other clocks that do that - everywhere.
The clock reminds us both of the old Odeon Cinema's of the 20s-30s.
and would look perfect on the set of Poirot.
Next time I go to town I must remember to walk on the other side of the road to that shop :-D.
I will definitely, categorically, never ever buy another clock - never ever.

Well we have not been chagrined, so I guess the fire must be out. OH walked along the beach and said the smoke was near bye. It is very hot and dry here so the potential for fires is great.

Time for dinner, then we will do a primary pack. We can keep our room until noon, so we can spend a couple of hours by the pool before we check out. We will go brood lunch in a tavern in the village because we don't have to by e back at the hotel until 2.30PM for our transport r t to the airport. We are due to go with another two couples but their flights are earlier, so we have ages to wait before our plane.

The room is absolutely empty but our bathroom is in there and you would have to go across the room in front of the windows which face the road.

Me too Persie. I spoke to her on the phone and she said it was 2HD and 1D. She has been working quite hard so its all good.

Our room has the all clear now, gosh it looks quite weird.. will have to hang up a couple of sheets in the window until all painted etc.

Now to make up our minds about the colour... :-S

Hi Sylvia,

We have both gas and petrol used in cars over here.
The gas is cheaper on the car to run than petrol.
I'm not a car person:-) as long as it gets me to where I need to go and doesn't break down, I'm happy lol

I had some good news from my daughter in regards to her mid year exams. She got 2 high definitions and 1 definition on the three exams she took. Now, she didn't explain what that actually means. I shall ring her later to find out.
I'm very proud of her no matter what it means :-)
