I'm watching a news item on the upcoming birth of the new Royal baby. They are asking if the name of the baby is important in these modern times :-0 What a silly question. I can't imagine a future Queen Shanniece or King Tyrone ;-)

I also have to get up if I'm awake Sue - can't just lie there, but I didn't appreciate having to get up at 5am today. :-(

Hello Huia,,

There is a boy in the village that Linda is always telling me to help with jobs, I may shove him up the chimney :-D.
This is an old house -1911 - we have had small pieces of concrete etc down the chimney before, but never a chunk of brick. Having a fireplace installed soon, and the installer will check out the chimney.

Hello Huia - hope you are well :-)

Tec - once I'm awake I have to get up :-(

Good Morning Sue - It is brave of you to get up early when it's cold and dark - especially when you've been not at your best.

Can't wait to see the photo of you in your butterfly shaped diamonte spectacles.
:-D

Huia Report 19 Jun 2013 22:05

Tec, what do you mean by "all it was"? I hope you don't use that fireplace unless you get the chimney thoroughly checked out (got a small child to go up to do it?) and repaired if need be. :-0

Good morning/evening - I'm up early this morning although it's dark and cold :-(

I'm glad the parties went well - I love children's birthday parties. The look on their faces is priceless when everyone is singing Happy Birthday.

I hope Megan does well in her exam, Amanda. My son was quietly confident that he did well in yesterday's exam but is not very sure about today's. It has been a difficult subject for him.

I have an eye test this morning for new glasses. I may get some Dame Edna Everidge glasses :-D

Good Evening Amanda,

Glad that the birthday parties went well - I did laugh at the chocolate monster, I hope you took a photo to show her first boyfriend :-D

Good luck to Megan tomorrow with her exam. I'm sure she will do well, you have said before that she works hard.
I don't think I could cope with all that again.

The clock is a wall clock, so I have found a place where it looks just right.
I was polishing it at 6am this morning :-0
Was woken up at 5am be a terrific clatter in the chimney brest - sounded like someone had emptied a bag of coal from the chimney. I got up to investigate, and all it was a part of a brick, but the noise was incredible as it bounced all the way down through three floors.
Anyway, by the time I had investigated that, made a drink, I was wide awake, and as it was a beautiful morning I stayed up and decided to polish the clock :-D
I have also washed and dried three loads of washing, done some gardening, and watered all the pots and tubs this evening.
Now I am tired and aching :-D it has been a long day.
Tomorrow is supposed to be very wet, so not much is planned.

Hello Sue , I hope your feeling much better now .
And that your son did well with his exam :-)

Carole , well done to your girl with her exam results :-)

My daughter , Megan , is sitting her final exam tomorrow . She has no plans to go onto uni and will no doubt begin job hunting soon .

Linda , safe journey home .

Tec , I hope your new clock has found the perfect place on your mantlepiece .

The birthdays went well :-) Megs little tea party was mostly for the benifit of the little ones but we do all enjoy getting together for any celebrations .
Little Isla smothered herself in the chocolate birthday cake , we where all laughing and running away from her , she looked like a chocolate monster ....lol :-)

Tommys " bit of a do " also went well . His little face lit up when he realised the " Happy birthday " song was being directed at HIM ...... lol He hasn't started walking yet but I don't think it will be long before he joins his cousins and siblings and becomes a full member of " the pack " . <3

It was nice to be able to kiss them all Bye-Bye and walk away from the mess , unlike yesterday where we had to do the big tidy up after they had all gone home .

It was very hot here off and on , humid even :-0

I honestly check what is in the window before I post, but if I have made an error and corrected it, it reverts everything to the original predictive text. I get the sorry error every time I post so I don't see what goes on the website.

We are spending a couple of hours by the pool before we have to vacate our room at noon.

Tec you are not to buy any more clocks and no plants for you Sue

My cousin a twin was slow at school and a year behind his brother.. did one year of high school then dropped out,
Got a job as a brickie.. did not like that so went and worked for a glass company.

He did well ended up with his own glass company.. started it with a mate then bought his mate out.
His first house when married was not much but he worked hard paid it off. Bought the building and the one next door where he had his glass works.

Moved to a better suburb and also had a caravan and tent up north in a place called Bland Bay on a bit of land that he and his sister got cheap. They now have a lovely beach house, retired before 60 and he enjoys his days going fishing. His sister and BIL live next door in an equally nice house.

They have done well for a couple of state house kids that never had any money.

He said to my eldest when she was doing her homework at her Nana's one day.. Do you need any help? I can do your colouring in for you. He was already a self made bloke by then.

I like the sound of your clock Tec... not that I can hear the ticking from here...

Hello to whoever drops in. Nice day here. Showers forecast, but none seen as yet. It was 9c when I awoke this morning and found it hard to get out of bed. The forecast doesn't promise any more than 16c, although we have a clear blue sky and lovely sunshine. Thankfully, no wind, so if we can sit in the sunshine, it can feel quite warm - better still, behind glass!

Hi Sue, and everyone

we had a nice day here, after heavy rain overnight, and another heavy "shower" at around 9 am. The sun came out by mid-morning, and the temperature got up to around 21C in the afternoon

We have the same problem here with our youngsters ........ the difference might be though that the governments (provincial and federal) are now making an effort to get youngsters to enter apprenticeships.

They're pointing out that electricians, plumbers, etc, can earn incomes close to $100,000 a year once they become Journeymen

Even apprentices are earning quite high salaries as they do their training .............. which involves both classes at college and work experience.

I love Linda's spelling when she is away!!!

I wondered about the "brood lunch", and why they would be chagrined :-D :-D

Good luck to your son, Sue xxx

take care everyone

Not a lot different here although I think it's a little better. Young people aren't going into trades and small businesses can't always afford an apprentice - a vicious circle.

My sister's son didn't do well at school - he was not very clever academically and he left school as soon as he could. He managed to get some work as a trainee landscape gardener after being unemployed for quite awhile. He is doing ok now but it took awhile.

I must be off now, Tec. I'm driving my son into Uni as the parking is horrendous and it's one more thing for him to worry about.

Sleep well <3

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Jun 2013 23:03

I hope very much that your son does well in his exams, he deserves to after the hard work put in. It will be good for you to see him achieve his goals.

There is a programme on at the moment about the plight of young people in Britain today. Employers are saying that the standard of education of school leavers is not good enough, and many are un-employable - even if there were jobs to be had.

Not all youngsters want to go to university, or achieve the grades to get there.
What is wanted is apprenticeships for the trades, because there will always be young people who are not academically bright, but could learn a trade.
I feel very sorry for our young people, and their future.

The weather sounds lovely, Tec - hope you are enjoying it.

No I'm not too worried about Australia becoming one with Asia. I'm not planning on being around in a million years :-D

My son starts his exams today - he is feeling very nervous although he has put in a great deal of work. He has had some very good marks for his projects so he should know his stuff.
