Yes they are covered Tec providing they have taken out insurance, but it is taking ages and people are complaining at the lengthy process. Of course what the insurers want to pay and what the people want are two different things and then the govt has to provide a subsidy. There are of course so many home owners that didn't have insurance at all .. think it comes under the cover of "she'll be right mate."

It has changed the way things are covered, houses were replaced at replacement value now you have to nominate a value and insure for that amount.. and that is what the payout will be.

It has put up all our insurance premiums.. with having the five rentals it is costing us double in insurance for them. The Insurance companies have to recoup money from somewhere. They have not got bottomless funds.

Must have been quite a shock to see how badly Christchurch was damaged - can't imagine how they will clear all that and rebuild.

Your SILs cousin must be devastated at having to move out after living in that house all her life.

Are people in NZ covered by insurance for earthquake damage?

We went down to Christchurch for SIL's PHD graduation last month and it was like Christchurch is not there any more... The city looks like it was bombed. We see it on TV but it is not till you negotiate your way around one ways (normally dual) etc that you actually realise how much destruction there was.

We were also taken out to one of the suburbs that was badly hit... all these empty houses up on the hillside overlooking the bay, no longer safe to live in and the undulating roads to get there.

SIL's cousin came to the graduation and she took us around she is about my age and whilst she is still living in her house she will have to leave... she has been in that house since she was six months old.

Yes Persie - the wine bottles swaying in the breeze on the vines sound very musical when banging against each other :-D

Look forward to photo's of your Wollemi Pine. The one next door to me is doing well, and is interesting to watch the new growth, and tiny cones

Wine growing eh... I was going to say our Linda would be interested in that but she probably thinks it comes already bottled for her consumption.

Morning Tec... I have been meaning to e-mail you.. and will do so when himself downloads some photos of our very own Wollemi pine growing in Christchurch.

Good Morning Sue,

Been another lovely day here, so did a bit more in the garden.

This evening I watched the first of three programmes with Simon Reeve all about Australia - he started off in the wine growing area of SA, then travelled West by train before rounding up camels in the desert. On to the gold mines at Kalgoorlie, went to an Aborigine settlement, before going to Perth.
Next week it's Northern Australia, and onto the Gold Coast.
Excellent programme, very interesting.

Problem is - I have to go too, Persie :-( We are off to the markets.

Persephone Report 18 May 2013 23:40

It's okay Sue, I have spoken to Marmite and Montgomery... ;-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 May 2013 23:39

Persie........... :-D

Just spotted you as I was about to shut the lid on this thing - I could never ignore you :-D Lovely to see you back here.

I blank all the tv adds - if someone were to ask me to name three ads I had noticed during an evenings viewing, I doubt that I could.
They just don't register with me at all

Well really have to go now,
Goodnight again.
Tec
:-) :-)

I think I'd be getting a complex, Persie :-D Of course Tec will not be happy that he's missed you.

Persephone

Persephone Report 18 May 2013 23:33

My timing is impeccable as ever, I type away and just as I submit Tec has said good night a minute earlier. LOL does he have ESP?

I have never taken much notice of the Eurovision contest, and don't take much notice of advertising either. I see the adverts but often it does not register as to who or what the advertiser's name is... Hence I can watch a bank advert and nominate the wrong bank.

I do surveys quite often where the surveying company send me the data by e-mail. Very tricky when one does not pay attention.

We have one annoying advert where women are trying to stuff themselves into ill fitting bras... but I don't know the name of the product that is supposed to be successful and that ad has been on soooooooo many times.

For a long time there was this butter ad and you followed the family and watched the little girl grow up. I answered a telephone survey and named the wrong butter company.. yet I enjoyed the adverts.

Yes I believe ABBA did start in the Eurovision. I can't see any of todays lot going onto great things like Abba did, who's songs are still very popular here.

Well I'm off to bed now that's over - :-D

Enjoy your day Sue - Take care,

Hello Berona, and Persie,

Goodnight,
Tec.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 May 2013 23:24

Of course years ago singing in the Eurovision contest was a springboard to fame. Isn't that how ABBA started?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 May 2013 23:16

I can understand that would irritate you Sue - there is so much talent in Australia to choose from. One would think that an Australian bank would want to promote everything Australian - especially to the home audience :-(

None of this years Eurovision songs stood out as something to remember to me.
Ours was very lack lustre in all respects.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 May 2013 23:10

Scraping the barrel comes to mind :-(

We have an advertisement here for an Australian bank. This bank is only in Australia but they are using one of our actors who is based in the U.S. and have shot the ad in the U.S. complete with his now American accent. For some reason I find that irritating.
