Hello...I hang my head in shame :-\

I hope the wedding goes well and you are feeling so much better, Linda <3

I hope you are well, Sylvia <3

Linda ...............

at least you did go to the doctor's!!

I hope the antibiotics begin to work soon. Take care, keep warm, and drink lots of fluids xxxxx

It sounds as though it could have been what my son-i-l had all over Christmas, although he never went to the doctor.

Grandson had it when we arrived on December 19, s-i-l came down with it on the 21st. Very sore throat, hurt to swallow food or to cough. He pooh-poohed any suggestion of going to the doctor, daughter also said "no point". But it didn't go away until January 3, 1 day before he had to be back in the class room.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 15 Feb 2017 12:46

After a terrible night, I gave in and rang at 8.30am to get one of today's doctors appointments
It is only a ten minute walk and as OH has the car, I didn't think anything of it. I should have got a taxi because I hadn't got very far before I had a mega coughing fit. Various passers by stopped to help me as I plodded along, but all I could do is keep going. Anyway I made it and sat down to wait. After a while, it started again, so I went out into the lobby. One kind old soul brought me some water and another sent some sweets. I was still there when the little boy doctor came to call me in. He didn't need any convincing how ill I was

He was talking about my chest with me trying to convey to him, that my throat was the problem. Anyway, despite the sweat running down my forehead, my temperature was normal, my lungs were clear, my blood sats were 97%

I was expecting him to say, it just a virus and send me away, until he looked at my throats and said "Ooh, that's nasty" and promptly wrote me a prescription for some antibiotics

Now I have to face everyone telling me "I told you to go to the doctors"

Sue ......

some excellent wineries ;-) :-D

I got a lovely white port from one of them when we were there

SueMaid Report 14 Feb 2017 21:50

My OH usually comes back with expensive cheeses and forgets the milk. They're all crackers :-0

What a shame you miss out on a visit with the girls :-(

The bushfires are thankfully nowhere near us but still concerning as many homes have been lost.

Mudgee is a very nice area, Sylvia...wineries and lovely countryside.

This is one summer I'll be glad to see the end of....we don't get prolonged heat waves in this area but this summer we have had record heat....I don't like it :-(

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Feb 2017 19:06

oops :-( :-|

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Feb 2017 12:15

I have decided that OH is crackers. He has just gone to London to play princesses, sadly I have had to stay behind. He went to the supermarket yesterday to get me some food. I only asked for a few things including, one tin of soup and one ready meal.
So in the cupboard are five tins of soup, three of which are tomato, which he knows I don't like. In the fridge is a family size lasagne
:-S

Linda .........

get better soon.

I didn't go to the doctor re my cough .............. it was a virus, and, as you say, there is nothing they can do. In fact, all the advice here is NOT to go to the doctor or to Emergency with the cough or flu ................ unless you have other symptoms that could indicate it has progressed to pneumonia or pleurisy. The public health people are saying all you do is spread the infection when the pharmacist could give you better advice in the form of over-the-counter things to take that will ease the symptoms!

Sue .............. yes, the avatar is from our trip. It's part of one of the "other" mountain ranges that we have.

I hope that your temperatures are easing. We saw some TV footage of the forest fires ............. and one shot was very close to where my friend Beryl used to live near Mudgee :-( . She moved to Ireland to be with her sister back in 2011 and died there about 2 years later, but I had stayed with her on her acreage in Cook's Gap in 2000 and 2006.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Feb 2017 14:22

I am so ill, that OH is going to have to go to London on his own. That is very sad as I was looking forward to seeing my girls. I couldn't face sitting in the car all that way and I definitely don't want them to catch it.

OH has raided the chemists and come back with all sorts of strange things. I am sure it is just a virus, so there is no point in going to the doctors.

I saw all wildfires on the news Sue, so I hope they are not in your area

SueMaid Report 12 Feb 2017 22:00

Hello ladies :-)

Oh dear Linda....you don't sound well at all. A trip to the doctor?

When OH shops for groceries I get at least one phone call asking about some item on the list. He was out yesterday and I asked him to get something for dinner. He came home with chicken breasts....I was pleased as there are quite a few things that can be done with chicken.

I love your avatar, Sylvia....taken on your trip?

It has cooled down a lot since yesterday evening. Today is sunny and cool. Lovely :-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 12 Feb 2017 19:05

sorry to hear you still feel rotten.

Could your OH go down by himself in a pinch?

It's sunny here, about 5C ........ but the frozen snow is still lingering!

Sue ............... are you OK? I heard on the radio that there are a lot of wildfires in NSW and area

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 12 Feb 2017 16:01

I dictated the list to him Sylvia, otherwise we wouldn't have half the things we edged

We go to London on Tuesday which is worrying as I still feel so ill My throats is so sore and it is settling into a horrible chesty cough, my ribs feel really sore. I think I need a miracle

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Feb 2017 21:46

Linda .............. hope you feel much better soon. When do you leave for London?

Did your OH make a decent grocery list? Mine always leaves things off, even though we have a board in the kitchen with 2 columns, one for "standard buys", ie milk, bread, etc and the other for "need", eg spaghetti.

I sometimes think he does it deliberately ......... he does the shopping normally, but I make out the list for him.

Sue ........... I would love to send you some of our cold weather!

What a good idea for Drew to have a key to the house. A little bit of independence is good for children as they reach certain ages.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Feb 2017 11:31

I got up today after two days in bed. Just having a shower and washing my hair was enough to finish me off. I feel like I have been run over by a steam roller. My head is pounding and I have a sore throat. Still it could be worse.

I am glad that the boys have settled into school, having a key is a good idea because you never know when something will happen to delay you, so he can get safely inside and phone his stepdad.

I expected tp see lots of snow today, but there isnt any, there will be on the hills. It is bitterly cold, poor OH had to do all of the shopping himself today, he made a ;list

:-)

I'm sorry you're not well Linda...very annoying to have to cancel a haircut. I don't feel human when my hair starts to grow out. I hope you feel much better soon <3

Another scorching hot day today. We had to go out for awhile this morning but I was exhausted when we got home. I have no energy in this weather. Can we have just a little bit of your snow?

Both Drew and Aiden appear to have settled into high school well. Drew now gets off the bus and walks home....he has a key and lets himself in although either me or grandad are in the house. He then rings his stepdad to let him know he's home. All part of becoming independent as he gets older.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 10 Feb 2017 13:36

Cheeky Sue :-P

It is freezing here, we keep having snow flurries, but it hasn't stayed.
I haven't got up for two days, I was suddenly poleaxed by a flu type bug. Annoyingly I had to cancel my haircut today. As we are away next week, it will be the following week before I can get it done. I am not going to be able to see by then.

I am starting to feel a bit better now,my temperature is down so hope to be back up tomorrow

SueMaid Report 10 Feb 2017 11:38

Hello ladies....and Linda ;-)

Yes Sylvia....it's still very hot here. Record temperatures. We have a brown lawn :-|

Well we've been invited to something we haven't heard of before....a "Gender Reveal" party. One of our nephews and his wife are expecting their first baby in August so instead of a baby shower we will be finding out whether the baby is a girl or boy. They won't know either until they cut the cake :-0

Stay safe and warm <3

SylviaInCanada Report 4 Feb 2017 21:47

The snow arrived very early on Friday morning, in time to cause utter chaos at rush hour!

We got about 4-5 cm here before it stopped at about 11 am, but then it started again, and continued through last night, with occasional breaks. I measured the amount on the sundeck at about 11 cm this morning ............ but it is now snowing again.

The side streets are a mess ........ the city concentrates clearing and sanding on major roads, bus routes and bicycle corridors, so nothing is done on any side streets.

SylviaInCanada Report 2 Feb 2017 00:47

Hello Elizabeth ...... it is so nice to see you back posting xx

Well, I have had 2 nights of semi-normal sleep, so am feeling much brighter :-D

Linda ...... I don't blame you for not offering to take that lady again.

Sue .......... is it still very hot?

We have another Arctic outflow, that's apparently the 6th this winter. We usually only get 2 a winter with a 3rd one very occasionally. So another unusual weather phenomenon!

I think that is the same effect in reverse that you get down under when the wind blows from the interior to the coast.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 1 Feb 2017 23:31

Hello,Elizabeth.

I don't think you have much choice over when your baby decides to come Sue

I wish it to be known that my toes are cold :-(

I had to get up early again to do a drive, but the woman decided she wasn't going to go. That is two weeks in a row she has cancelled at the last minute, so Imam not volunteering to take her anywhere again.

I did take my nice lady shopping as usual this afternoon. I push her round in a wheelchair with a trolley on the front, scattering people as I go. We get on really well and have a good look at the shelves to try and find her different things to eat. She can hardly see, so I have to choose birthday cards for her. I got a very funny one today for her son, goodness knows what her family think of their cards
