Hello all,

Nice to see you about Bridget, Glad that you are settling in.
It will be lovely to hear about the area you are in now. Did you say Hastings, all I know about Hastings is the Battle of 1066 !!!!

We are having very unseasonal windy weather, August is usually the windy month. Rain looked promising yesterday but nothing came of it.

Am off in a while to have a perm which I may say is long overdue. I am trying a local hairdresser who I believe cuts very well, it remains to be seen if she can manage fine fluff!! Till now I have been going to a friend in Port Elizabeth who has a Salon .

The kitten I wrote about earlier hasn't been claimed and is very happy with the assistant from the Vets who took her home.

That's all for now.

Take care everyone.

Morning all,
As Mary says it is raining, the very fine stuff that soaks through everything. The cloud is down on the valley floor, all very depressing. Going to buy a lottery ticket as the jackpot is well worth having...in my dreams...have most of it spent, a lovely villa on the shores of Lac Annecy, a new M******s, trips to far-flung places...wouldn't it be 'loverley'. Ah well I can dream.
Enjoy the day
Frances.
PS Hope the perm went well, Val.

Good morning everyone,

At 6 a.m. the sea was absolutely calm and there wasn't a breath of wind although it was quite nippy out. so had my coffee inside.

I am very happy with my haircut and perm, gee what a difference it makes, I feel quite human again!.

Good luck with the Lottery Frances perhaps you can make your dreams a reality. I will also be buying my Lotto ticket to-day for to-night's draw.
The Lotto here has two draws weekly, Wednesday and Saturday I only buy a ticket for Saturday . The best I've had is R400 so I'm still waiting for the big one!!

My daughter's router at her home has blown and as it is Saturday and the suppliers are all closed, she is taking the router from her workshop for the weekend, so I will have no internet access until Monday ,how sad.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Morning all,
Lovely day today, though quite chilly early morning. Just ordered the logs for the winter!! Got two star numbers on the lottery so might have won my stake money back...so no begging letters.
Enjoy your day.

Goodmorning,

I'm back!! Internet connection problem solved, I hope!!

Beautiful day to-day by the look of things, a gentle breeze at the moment hope it stays that way.

On Sunday we decided to buy a pizza for lunch and went down to one of the lookout points, we watched the surfers do their thing and were lucky enough to see a pod of abouit 6 dolphins go by , they really are lovely to see. This is the time of the year for the whales to be passing this way, so maybe next time we will see some of them.

I am going to Port Elizabeth this morning with my daughter who has some jusiness to do there. There was an attempted hijacking on one of the off-ramps on this road yesterday so hope it is quiet to-day.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Hi All
Hope you are all well and happy. Not added to this thread for a few days. Had a phone call on Sunday from my cousin to tell me her partner had had a heart attack and died. She was obviously devistated. So yesterday we went down to Torrevieja - hope I have spelt that correct - to his funeral. My cousin's sister and husband had flown over from UK to support her. All so very sad.
The weather today on the Costa Blanca is sunny but very windy - got washing blowing on the roof terrace - hope it stays on the line !!
Fingers crossed my kitchen may be completed today - I can't wait to finally sort out all those cupboards - never had so many !!! And I have 4 drawers too !!!
Hope Bridget is ok - wont be long before she has her hubby by her side.
Take care all
Love Mary xx

Good morning,

Nice to hear from you Bridget, only a week left till your husband joins you, great.

Thankfully we had an uneventful trip to PE. My daughter left me at the shopping mall while she did her business, but would you believe I didn't find anything which I wanted to buy!!

We have friends here from East London SA, for a couple of days, so will be walking on the beach for a change. We have been friends for about 40 years.

Hope you all have a lovely day.

Good morning all
Well that wind yesterday actually made my duvet cover blow away - could not see it anywhere even in the street. About half an hour after I found it was missing door bell rang and there was a Soanish neighbour from down the road with my cover in her arms. Apparently it had blown down the street and landed on a street lamp and a dear man got it down and gave it to her. Will teach me to put more pegs in next time.
Had a shower this morning but sun out and blue sky at moment.
Busy cleaning up and sorting out my kitchen - there is dust everywhere from the sanding etc. oh well I am not complainin g still got a smile on my face.

Ann - certainly did have a glass or two last night to celebrate.

Great to see you posting Bridget - you seem to have settled in your new job.

Have a great day everyone and take care

Love Mary xx

Morning all,
Glad you got the duvet cover back, Mary. We had the wind yesterday, pretty wild at times but now we have a perfect drying day. Went out to lunch yesterday and it was fabulous, had duck which was beautiful and juicy.
Also going out to a new to us restaurant next Thursday, and then eating out the following Tuesday lunchtime....we don't go anywhere for weeks and then it all comes at once....hey ho!
Enjoy the day.

A bit like the buses round here then Frances. Duck sounds lovely, one of my favourites.
Lovely day here in Gloucester today, sunny and a bit breezy but not too strong a wind, realy autumnal weather.

Val, glad all went well for you in PE, what a shame you couldn't find anything to buy. I envy you your walk on the beach, that would be lovely right now, sadly we are quite a way from the nearest beach here.

Mary, pleased to hear you celebrated your kitchen, hope you manage to get it cleaned soon, sanding gets into all the crevaces doesn't it. Had to chuckle at your duvet cover being wrapped around a lampost!!!

Keith, good luck with the scan, and yes, let us know how it all goes, good to see you on here.

Hello to you all,

Gee I am very late to-day. Visitors left to-day, but our friends from London arrive to-morrow afternoon for a three week visit, though they will be staying in a self-catering establishment they spend a lot of time with us which is really good.

The weather yesterday turned really miserable so I didn't get to walk on the beach, but we did go down and just sat in the car and watched the waves.

I have just planted some more lettuce and spring onions and will be putting out snail-bait in a while otherwise my seedlings will all be gone by morning.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Good morning,

We have had steady light rain since yesterday, and it is so nice, can almost see the grass changing colour! Hope it continues to-day although our English friends who arrived on Saturday won't be so happy I'm sure.

Had a lovely weekend with our friends, went out for a meal on Saturday and chatted and chatted yesterday, got takeaways for supper. It is so good to see them.

Not long now till your husband joins you Bridget.

Have a good day everyone.

Morning All
Well what lovely weather we have had this weekend. Had a bbq on Saturday night - just the two of us. The Spanish were celebrating the end of summer fireworks and bangers going off all night - a parade came down our little street and the 4 chaps at the back were letting off the bangers - thought the house was going to cave in they were so noisey!!

Yesterday we went for a walk - well paddled too - on the beach and then had a piicnic - even took a small bottle of wine and wine glasses too - and finished off with a coffee. Then lay on the blanket and fell asleep !! Got home around 5 pm - then went and sat on roof terrace with a book until 7 pm when I had to come down and prepare our dinner.

Today is another sunny day so after housework and doing the washing -`put extra pegs in that now . lol .- will go out for a walk.

Enjoy your day

Love Mary xx

Hi everyone,
Done the housework, the washing is dry, the sun is shining...wonderful.
Glad your friends arrived safely Val, pity about the rain but I know how much you need it.
Have a great day
Regards,
Frances.

AnninGlos Report 26 Oct 2009 21:32

Sounds wonderful Mary. Those bangers they let off during parades are really something aren't they, they had them in Puerto de la Cruz last May and, letting them off in the narrow streets they were echoing.

Can't see health and safety letting it happen here!!!

Goodmorning,

Well what a day yesterday was! It rained all day and most of the night but unfortunately from midmorning it was accompanied by gale-force winds which caused havoc along the eastern and southern cape coast. Power lines were blown down, trees were blown over and sadly a 5 year old little girl died when a large tree fell onto the house in which she was sleeping. One of our trees which is on the grass verge was also blown over.
To-day,,however, everything is calm only a gentle breeze.

Am waiting for friends to arrive and will take it from there, not sure what we will be doing.

My daughter will be getting her ridgeback (without the ridge!) puppy on Friday and is quite excited about it's arrival. Not sure how,she will get on with a dog as she has always been a cat person!

Take care and have a great day.
