+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Dec 2009 09:42

Morning All, What's this I hear? Someone has drunk all the beer? Can't be having that! No Chrissie Pressies for the baokins until someone owns up - lol!

Sounds as if OH's aunts hubbie was a bit of a ladies man lol

AuntySherlock Report 12 Dec 2009 09:49

Morning DET. Hope everything is warm and cosy where you are. LG has just had a temporary identity crisis. I am off to do battle with some rellies, virtually speaking, well it's a pity they can't because then I would know where they fit in.

Bother Australian privacy rules which don't allow me to search births after 1908.

And goodmorning to you too Pauline. You didn't wake me when you came in this morning. Hope I wasn't snoring too loudly.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 12 Dec 2009 10:27

Hi Aunty - just been catching up on what's what, to see if anything scandalous has been going on.

Not quite as toasty as it was earlier as the heating has gone off on the timer. That'll teach me to turn the comp on before getting organised - lol. But at least there is no frost or snow.

Enjoy sorting out the rellies. Perhaps you need to strap a pad to your forehead so you don't damage the grey cells when you bang your head against the brick wall :-P

AuntySherlock Report 12 Dec 2009 10:51

Oh there's plenty of fodder for the grist mill out there. Sitting really hard on fingers at the moment.

I have just applied for two transcriptions from the NSW BDM. That will tell me the correct maiden name of one and if I have the correct marriage of the other. Oh and only five more of the kith and kin in this part of the family to go. Whoopeee!!!

Oh dear and look at this. Preserved for posterity for ever.

Good luck Aunty! Have you thought what you will do in the cold winter evenings, once you've finished?

Good Evening to everyone else, if you manage to pop by after your excursions or still have the energy from various manic domestic activities!

YG Report 12 Dec 2009 20:28

I was sitting here minding my own business when the phone suddenly bleeped at me. What on earth could that be, asked I?

A picture message with a password. Well, curiosity got the better of me and as poor little me doesn't have a camera phone I had to keep everything tucked in tight in utter suspense until I could boot up the old lappy and log onto my service provider.

What's this then, a picture on it's side, oh bother! How the h*** do I turn it round on here, mutter mutter. Ah, right, download it, then I can play with on Windows and turn it the right way up. It only looks like a group of people stood around. Now, where did I put my specs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

omg, I've just had a relapse!!

And Maz has got one of them in the boot for me!!

AuntySherlock Report 12 Dec 2009 20:31

Catch you later DET. What I will do in the cold evenings. Probably the same as before. Knit, read, work work! I knit patterns and pictures. Oh well I used to before I became lured into the murky world of ancestors.

I think I need a card index for each of my tree persons. For a very organised person I am most disorganised when it comes to remembering whether I have researched someone or not.

Oh well off to read the morning paper. Need to see if I won the lotto from last night. Could do with a spare million or two.

AuntySherlock Report 12 Dec 2009 20:34

Oh she is the devious one. How on earth did Maz manage to capture a whole group of firemen together. That is a very rare photo. Now you can enlarge the photo and have it framed and hang it on your wall, just inside the door. Good feng shui or whatever that blathery stuff is called.

YG Report 12 Dec 2009 20:40

Oh sweet dreams!!!!

YG Report 13 Dec 2009 08:24

Well you poor little thread!! Totally abandoned and lonely!!

What effect is Christmas having on you!! Everybody busy, busy, busy!!

Never mind, I will take over the throne room and put my feet up for a while as it is so peaceful.

Time for meditation >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Mazfromnorf Report 13 Dec 2009 08:36

morning all
frog was just looking at me in Grassington yesterday YG .lol we had just got off the coach when just by the car park was a fire enginewith firemen giving out jellie babies for charity so I took the picture .The one in the boot should be at your door now YG as i gave him the broomstick he is going to send the others too they are all fighting about who should cross the big ponds as they are sick of cold flood water
tried to send LG one but it was stuck in cyberspace
any way i had a lovely long day

AuntySherlock Report 13 Dec 2009 08:59

Got aaaaaallllllllll enthusiastic today I did. Really. Went down to the office works shop and bought myself two plastic card file boxes, about 500 index cards and a set of alphabetical indexes (or indicies).

It is for making a file with a card for each of my rellies. Name, date of birth marriage death, who married etc. Just so I do not keep looking for the same info.

The plastic boxes and the cards are sitting on my desk. They are still wrapped in their plastic. Nothing is happening. Do you think I should unwrap them. Shudder!!! That will mean work, you do realize that.
I'll have to write on them. I wonder how long it will take me to write out 500 ish of them.

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 13 Dec 2009 09:49

lol - I started to do that for contacts as I have loads of tree accesses but have forgotten who half of them are! For the rellies, I have about 4 large lever arch folders. Once upon a time, I was going to print off a summary for each person, but it got so complicted when their children married and had children of their own, I gave up!

Glad to know you had fun Maz. Hope *you* didn't get wet feet! Why was the fireman in the car boot? The mind boggles!

Problem child has promised she will help put up the tree today, and Beta Male is supposed to be having a bonding session with Alpha Male (OH) putting up the outside lights...very tasteful string of white fairy lights. None of those inflatable Snowmen or Father Christmases, thank you.

I got one of those file boxes and started on the index cards, then I realized how long it was going to take - so I put it away!!
