Hopefully it will be gone by Christmas. I am still keeping my fingers crossed that we don't get any snow and that we can get to M Keynes OK on Thursday.

Evening all, I don't think I have ever properly introduced myself, probably because I am more than a little paranoid about privacy.

But here goes:
I am a 40 ish single mum with a teenage son, I live in Kent, have 1 dog, 1 cat and a rabbit.
I have a weird and sarcastic sense of humour, which sometimes offends, but it is never meant in a malicious way - its more of a personal safety net. lol

Thats about as interesting as it gets. :0)

Thanks for that Hazel and your New Year sounds as if it will be great.

And thanks for the intro Angie.

Sorry it wasn't very interesting Ann.

I know we all do Christmas differently, but in one of the houses behind mine, they purchase a Turkey every year.
I find it quite pleasant to hear it making Turkey noises throughout December, and quite disturbing when its all quiet in January - I wonder where it goes?

The snow is freezing again and the temperature outside is far too cold for me. I have a thermal vest on, long sleeved top and mohair cardigan, The heating is on and still I am cold, my hands are like ice. I am beginning to think it isnt normal! Both cats are asleep on their favourite beds and have no desire to go out, Why should they when they have got humans trained to shop for them and keep their litter trays clean!

Hi Ann,
Just to let you know I have been out and about in MK this afternoon and the grid roads are clear. The roads on the estates are still a bit dangerous as we had heavy snow falling on ice for about 4 hours yesterday evening.

Have been to the panto this afternoon. Cinderella, with Bobby Davro, Anthea Turner and MICKEY ROONEY ( 89 yrs old). I really enjoyed it. Had lots of laughs and loved the audience participation. Put me in the mood for Christmas.
Chat again soon, Sylvia X

Still no car for me!!!!
I thought it was the battery when I couldn't start it this morning, but apparently it's something to do with the electronics and they are taking the door panel off as it's something complicated. Why do they make things sooo confusing these days.Had no problems when you used to unlock the doors with a key.
Gosh, I must be old as I remember starting a car up with a starting handle! Then, it was that you had to pull the choke out to start!
The garage said that it will be tomorrow afternoon at the earliest,so I'll perhaps go to town on the bus and get a taxi back,or do an on-line shop--never done that before, like to pick what I buy but needs must.

Daughter won't be able to get here from Manchester to pick up the presents for them,5 grandchildren, and 3 little g.granddaughters...plus the cake I made them.Hopefully between Christmas and New Year ,and the 3 little girls will have to be told that Santa broke down here!
I'd rather they didn't come than risk the roads at the moment.
I think more snow is forecast.could be a white Christmas after all.

Hi everyone this is such a lovely thread that i thought I would join in too. I have been on GR for about two years now but only just started looking at the threads recently. I have recieved some fantastic help from many people on this site which has greatly increased my knowledge of my ancestry so a big thank you to everyone. I now quite enjoy reading the threads every night but never really join so will now make more of an effort too. I live in North Wales on the edge of Snowdonia the mountains look lovely in the snow. I'm in my 40s and have three cats and twins....and I sleep alot! Happy Christmas to everyone, Nadolig llawen a blwydden newydd dda.

AnninGlos Report 23 Dec 2009 10:39

I guess I would sleep a lot if I had 3 cats and twins Lol!!!

Welcome Cowslip, do come back and see us again.

Brenda, what a nuisance for your car to let you down just when you need it most. Hope you get it back soon.

Barbra, I am sure you must get a lot of fun with your 2 westies. They are very mischievous aren't they? But so cute.

We had a very hard frost here this morning, all the roof tops looked very pretty. We don't have to go out today and are hoping the local paper is right when they say it will be warmer overnight tonight.

Good morning everyone. Looks absolutely beautiful outside. Will be wearing shades today, the sun is really bright and reflecting off the snow. The trees are still heavily laden and look frozen in time, really like a painting. Not a bit of movement. (Must remember to top up the bird feed).

Will be out and about quite a bit today. Last of the shopping, hairdressers, and then the long awaited delivery of 4 dozen mincpies to my friends at MK train station.

I really do feel sorry for ALL shift workers when the weather is so cold, those early early mornings and very late nights, thankfully now a thing of the past for me, but I do think of them often.

Will catch up again later, so pleased I decided to join this thread.

Sylvia, go careful out there if it is still slippery. You should take some photos as it sounds very pretty. Only hope we can appreciate it when we have to drive through it. Not looking forward to the drive tomorrow I have to admit.

Our birds are eating us out of house and home, we have topped up our feeders but they will probably need doing again tomorrow before we go, we have one feeder with black seed two with peanuts, one with suet bits, one with nyger seed two with mixed seed and three with fat balls, plus three bird tables!!!

Ann, good to see this thread, I don't get on here as often as I used to because of my family also using the computer. I stopped posting except on the Friends & Neighbours thread because of the problems and also because with people adopting "board names" I didn't know who was posting.

I also joined 7 years ago, didn't post at first but then once started used to post every day. Made lots of friends, many I have met at meetings and am still in touch although some have left GR.

The old Chat board used to zing along, sometimes so fast you would lose the post you were replying to. Now with the threads it is perhaps easier to follow - but i agree far too many A-Z.s There are people who's posting I always read and some I avoid but the majority of our members are nice people with a mutual interest in genealogy and helping others.

My resolution for 2010 is to join in more often - and a Happy Christmas to you all.

Love
Kathleen
