Although I have not been able to contribute on a regular basis to this thread, as I would have liked, the only New Year's resolution I am going to make is to do so aplenty in 2010. So, to you all, have a very Happy New Year, and I'll speak soon.
All the Best for 2010 to you all

Hi all, .....Ann, the Tudors are brilliant, enjoying it more the second time around. To me it is more informative, politically and religion wise than most of the old Henry the 8th dramas. You must watch it..lol
Having a quiet New Years Eve after a hectic Christmas, so just chilling now and awaiting the fireworks that will inevitably go off around here ....

A Happy New Year to all

i'm posting this while holding on the phone to Virgin Media re my tv.

I moved it, or tried to. managed to disconnect the thing going to my Virgin Media Box Now got a 999 message on the box. And a Blue Screen. Have followed instructions on their automated message, but still says 999.

Just as well I have started a jigsaw puzzle!

Might have to write some letters too, and even try to do some weaving, on the childs weaving set that Santa bought me last year!

Not too worried or upset, tv is a habit not a necessity.

Will have to ring off soon as I've got some food in the oven. Already been on the phone for 19 mins ... without speaking to anyone. (except myself)

Hi Ann

and everyone

SylviaG ....... that's why I added (in Canada) to my name several years ago!

It's threatening rain here in Vancouver (snowing almost everywhere else in the province!), but we're not going to go out except for our afternoon coffee and to buy our weekly lottery tickets. I think one of the draws is for $30 or40 million dollars! Dreams ........................................................

Then it's home for the night ............... a lovely steak dinner, do our own things during the evening (as per usual!!), and hope to keep awake to midnight. I can't have an alcoholic drink .... but I can raise my glass of cranberry juice to OH.

HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone

and let's hope that is is a healthy, happy and prosperous one for all of us.

Hi all, have been reading all or at least some of the threads here in General Topics, wasnt going to start writting but couldnt resist. I,m not sure of the time difference between here and the uk. but at this moment it is 0355 here in WESTERN AUSTRALIA,down in the south west actualy. My name is Cori short for Corinne but on gr its Cos.this is just what I want somewhere to talk and meet new friends, I had contact with the ladies on the scraping threads and that is great too.but it is getting late/or should I say early so should go to bed before its time to get up, so I wish everyone here a HAPPY NEW YEAR. AND SO GOODMORNING TO ALL.

So it's already 2010 where you are Cos.
Hope that you manage to get some sleep so that you can enjoy a full day on 1st Jan.

It is good to hear from people from different hemisperes, as well as of different ages. Means that we get a wider view point on more subjects.

While researching my tree, found a young lad (aged 16) who was sent to WA as a Parkhurst Boy. Arriving there in 1849.
I think that he was given a second chance (not classified as a convict) when he got there and did quite well for himself.
But it must have been terrible being forced to leave home and all his family at such a young age, probably never to see his family again.

Well Ian & Cos, at least you are into your hangovers now whereas here in Scotland etc. they are just building up for the bells.
I am actually off to bed as I can't really be bothered with it all but at least I'll be up bright and early in the morning!
Nice to see some threads where people are not at war.

Frank.

I agree, its nice to see people from other Hemispheres, even if its only so I can say to anyone that I was talking to a friend in australia last night and they are having trouble with the heat! I find it wonderful that you can have a conversation across the world so quickly.

Good morning everyone!!

(well, it's morning my time!!!)

It rained hard all night, and is still raining ......... not very nice for the revellers who were out and about last night!

I stayed up until midnight, OH went to bed at 11:30pm. I heard a couple of fireworks go off at midnight, and went to bed, OH was still awake as he had been reading a book.

All in all ...... a very quiet evening!!!

Lovely to see all the new faces!

I sometimes say to friends "I was talking to ....... .........." before I realise that I've never even heard their voice, just "Chatted" on these boards.

Really feel that we are having proper conversations at times, instead of a cyber one!

Friends not on the boards just don't understand, they think that I have finally lost my reason completely.
Just pleased that I'm not the only one.

Perhaps we are related, Joan of Monmouth

Keith, are you ready to go to The Lake District tomorrow?

Don't forget to take a spade, a hot drink in a flask and a blanket.
Just in case it snows.

Have a good time and tell us about it whan you get back
