It's hard to imagine how cold you are having it at the moment, when we are having it so hot! It would be so nice if we could swap about 15 to 20 degrees - then we could all be the same, and comfortable.

We still have about a hundred fires burning here in NSW alone. Another 33 homes were lost yesterday. As fast as the fires are extinguished, new ones start.

Good to hear from you Kim, and to know you are not affected by the fires.
Yes - won't be long now and we can all get back to "normal"!!

Eight days to go for us, can't wait. We have been safe on the Central Coast, no fires near us this time. Western Sydney has seen quite a few young fire bugs. The heat is really affecting me, but a cooler one today. We desperately need some rain, my lawn is tinder dry.

Yes I have seen the new faces advertised, too many to cope with so quickly. A few drops of rain, not enough to make any difference and some thunder. Hope you are all well.

Only nine days to go for us! I'm already tired of seeing the clips of Heath bobbing about in a small boat, but now, we have been shown a clip of a funeral, where some of the mourners are dressed in school uniform. I wonder who dies?
They also tell us that there are a lot of new faces - so I suppose we will have lost some!

Yes, the wind picked up yesterday and caused more fires. Victoria is now getting their turn and homes have been lost. Still many people in Tasmania not accounted for so police are searching burnt-out homes. About 30 of the 140 fires in NSW are burning out of control, but hopefully they don't threaten people or property.
Our wildlife suffers badly and it is estimated that so far, at least 20,000 sheep and cattle have perished .Now, the fires are starting up in Queensland. They have hardly had time to get over their flooding!
Haven't heard from Kim. She lives on the Central Coast of NSW and I know there are fires there too. I hope all is well with her.
I am about half way between Sydney City and the Blue Mountains. I understand there are fires in the mountains, but hopefully, they are being contained. However, it is about an hour's drive from here and won't affect us where I am. We will possibly get the hazy sky and black ash landing on our lawns, but no fear of fires here.

I've probably mentioned on here before, but, when I was in Australia 10yr ago,on our travels we passed a lot of places where the fires had been.
I think it was Canberra we passed some house that were burnt out and others in the same area were ok.I expect it was to do with the wind.

Thanks for your concern, Marion. No problem where I live. I'm in the western part of Sydney, 20 miles from the Harbour, but still very much part of the City. Although a helicopter pilot saw three schoolboys setting three different fires in a suburb not far from here, where there is a little bit of bushland - close to homes. Fotunately, the fires were put out before they reached homes and the little blighters were caught!
Most of the fires are started by heat, combustible eucalyptus leaves, dry leaves and grass, lightning, electricity sparks, glass, etc. and as if that isn't bad enough, it makes us very angry when some lunatic starts them deliberately. There are 140 fires burning at the moment in New South Wales alone. Tasmania has been burning because of temperatures previously unknown for down there - they are so far south.
Our volunteer fire fighters risk their lives to fight the fires. We don't need them to take more risks than necessary. They are a very revered breed of people.

Woo-hoo!! Update! We start again on Monday 21st, so only two more weeks to go! Poor old Heath has been bobbing about in a fishing boat since the end of November but from the 'sneak peeks' we have seen - it's big brother Darryl to the rescue!!!

You will see a lot of Bianca for a while and believe it or not, Roo and Harvey do finally make it to the altar! That was where ours ended in November.

Weren't you up to the little funeral?

We keep getting clips of forthcoming episodes - but still no date given. These 'clips' used to be called 'trailers' in the cinemas, and usually flash on for about 30 seconds between other 'commercials'. Now, they are being included in the program lists and are being called 'sneak peeks'. They are still only flashes of what's on soon - so why do the TV chanels think we are stupid enough to believe we are getting something special?

Thank you Marion. All the best to you and your family and friends too.

No, I won't be getting too merry. In fact, when you've seen as many New Years in as I have, you reach the stage where sleep is more important. I'll be watching the celebrations when they are replayed on the TV - tomorrow!
