Hi Penny,
She married John Dickie Florence in Aberdeen in 1915.
I have the marriage cert. which is clear to read at the top
of the page. I am having difficulty reading her fathers
first name, mother Margaret. Any help with that info?

Just doing a bit of Googling the name seems to appear as a surname quite a lot, especially in Canada - possibly French origins?

Are you certain it isn't a surname? Many countries put the surname first, then christian name afterwards

InspectorGreenPen Report 7 Dec 2010 12:08

Reading your last post which crossed with mine, perhaps she was named after an ancestor who had the surname Uniam?

'Emma'

'Emma' Report 7 Dec 2010 13:25

Hi Potty everything fits in as she was b1894 and her father
b1862 and mother b 1865. Just found out that father was from Fraserburgh. Wonder why her name was Uniam Carnegie
Bogue on marriage cert. Thank you for your help.

Hi Joan, I did notice a few lakes with the same name but
thought Eskimo name. Didn't notice Indian Lake and have
not looked to see if Indian connections etc.Father was a Cooper
but she could have been named after a relative or ancestor as
IGP suggested. Thanks Joan for you help.

Trying to trace Abercrombie backwards to see if there is a connection to the name, found a baptism on the IGI, mother Margaret Borgue, no father.

Think this is him in 1871 as there is a marriage for a George Davidson to Barbara Borgue in Fraserburgh in 1856:
