This is the new thread for the Birthday Girls - 3rd January 2011.
Come and join us here if you like making your own greetings cards, but ignore any old threads. We are a friendly bunch of females. I say females because I haven't seen a male member yet. Who knows what the future might hold!
My thoughts at the moment are for those members/ex members living in the flooded area of Australia. May you have the strength to carry on girls.

Hello birthday girl cardmaking friends A Happy New Year to you all and happy card making times.


Just taken down all our cards and having a second look. I would like to thank the following for their cards. I may have said thank you over the Christmas period but this is just in case I forgot anyone. They are all lovely and give food for thought. Jo could you please put this on the other site for me. Sylvia, you need to edit the title and change it to 2011 from 1011.

Ann, as Sylvia was having so much trouble finding us I suggested she start the thread to ensure that she could always find it. I have sent her a mail asking her to amend the title.
Like you I love to recycle the cards I receive. I even use the back of the cards for matts for my stitching as they are normally white, saves cutting up my best card!!
I will transfer your thanks to the other side for you.

The weather here has changed and the temperature at the moment is below zero again, still hopefully the sun will shine tomorrow and make up for the dirty damp weather of the last few days.

I have bookmarked it as well, otherwise it sometimes drops a lot and is difficult to find. Have marked the other thread as closed, hope everyone notices.

Ann, No I'm not taking over from Jo Jo, heaven forbid she is much more capable than I am and is doing a wonderful job, let's hope she can carry on for a long while yet. Thanks Jo. Even had to point out to silly litle me about putting the date 1011 instead of 2011. I must have been busy with historical dates in my mind!!
I had to be at the council's doctor this morning at 9.00 am so we had to get up at 6.00 am. What an unearthly hour is that on such a dark cold morning. In fact we even found we had had a light fall of snow overnight again.
I am trying to get a more powerful scootmobile, but am not very good at putting on a hard luck story so think I'll have to stick to the scooter I have. The one I want does more kilometers and goes faster - that's me speedy gonzalez!
Now better get down to thinking what we are having for dinner tonight and then maybe make some more cards. Have a nice day

Morning girls, hope you are all recovered from Christmas & New Year and thank you everyone who sent cards, I will edit this post later with whom I received from, in bed at mo, sick and tired of being ill, but as I have no energy to do much ,so this is where I'm staying :)

We had snow yesterday but it was soon gone and it's been howling and raining today :( Shouldn't complain though, thinking about all our lovely friends in Australia with floods, hoping it gets better for you all soon x

What a brilliant idea for Sylvia to start the thread, you definately won't lose it now : )

Good afternoon all, just taken down the last of the christmas decs, waiting for OH to come home from golf (in the rain silly man) now to take the tree apart and put the boxes in the loft. I bet nobody else has as many boxes of decs and lights as we do!!! But then I love the decorations so can't complain.

I need to apologise to Sylvia as I am not sure your card will get to you on time. But you will get it I promise, sorry if it is late.

Why do councils and hospitals not take age into consideration when making appointments, why make you appointment so early Sylvia? A bit later would have been more comfortable for you. And my hospital appointments are always around 5pm meaning in the winter we are turning out in the dark, we go on the bus not in the car because parking is so awful and it is not nice round the hospital in the dark.

Well, like Heather we had snow yesterday and now torrential driving rain, cold and horrible!!
So sorry to hear that you are unwell hope you are feeling better soon. Will post your thank you over on the other side along with your apology in case of late arrivals of cards for January.

Ann I took my decs down some days ago and still waiting for them to be put away in the loft!!

Phew, ours are in the loft now. Only problem OH got enthusuastic while up there and got several things down for scrapping so now we need to make a trip to the dump.

Happy New Year to you all. I have just rejoined GR as a consequence of getting the new FTM 2011 for Christmas so I've dusted off my long-neglected family tree research.

Thank you to all who sent me such lovely cards. As usual they were all beautiful with some lovely ideas and techniques.

It's good to be back, and see some familiar names, but on the boards as a whole there are mostly new ones! I am going to have to be careful not to spend ttoo much time on here mind, I know from experience how addictive it can be lol!

Hopefully you will have learned to live without it Liz. Yes there are quite a few new people around but the 'old' ones are still there, maybe just don't come on as much.

Lovely to see you back Liz.. Like you I need to get back into my research it has been seriously neglected of late. I also received a new FTM 2011, but at the moment I have my tree on Ancestry so might just keep it there.

Love all the ideas that came with the Christmas cards, so many and some that were so easy to do but looked so effective, will definitely be copying!!

Hi all,
I have a funny feeling that I won't get many birthday cards as I only have two at the moment and my birthday is only a few days away.
Johan's sister who is 87 years of age and was in hospital for Xmas in a coma and not expected to live, was allowed home yesterday. What do you think she did? Yes, fell on the step and broke her ankle in two places so back to hospital for an operation!
My eldest daughter has gone through her back and is lying down all day, when she is not having physiotherapy.
Who wants to come for coffee on my birthday? My granddaughter is also not very well, so it will be very quiet.

Tomorrow I am going to brave the elements and have a look round the market. I haven't been out on my scooter for weeks now.My hairdresser came and gave me a permanent today so I don't have to hurry back home for her and have plenty of time.

Sylvia I hope you get lots of lovely cards from the girls. I posted mine a few days ago so hopefully it will get there for your birthday. I know a few o the members are down with the flu and other things at the moment, but I am sure the cards will all turn up. I was going to say it is lovely to hear that Johan's sister is out of hospital after all the trauma at Christmas, only to be back in there. Well I hope the operation on her ankle goes well, and she makes a full recovery and is soon back on both feet!! and of course your daughter, hope her back gets better very soon, back pain is just awful. We are expecting bad weather again tomorrow with a big drop in temperatures, hope it is not too cold and icy for you to get out.
