Hallo all
Just thinking of you all this New Year's Eve. All around I am hearing fireworks. Those who cannot wait until 12.00 before letting them off and upsetting all the poor cats and dogs outside! I think they should be locked up for the night so they can learn a lesson.
I shall have the children tomorrow to visit us but tonight Johan and I are on our own.
I wish you all a healthy, happy New Year and thank you all for the lovely Xmas cards and some birthday cards which I have received early.

Hallo all,
Thank you all for the lovely Xmas cards. I've been having lots of visitors and have tomorrow free to prepare for more visitors on Saturday. I have to prepare a meal for my sister in law and my niece who are coming from Rotterdam.
My eyes are now a lot better but I need some new glasses for the computer and reading.
I have had lots of presents and need a larger house to accommodate them!
The weather is mild for the time of year and fortunately the wind has dropped although it is supposed to return.
Greetings to you all and keep safe and dry

Hallo girls,
I posted all BG cards a few days ago and today had a letter from the Postal people with extra money to pay on 6 of the cards. T he extra amount is 3 Euros per card, which amounts to 4,50 per card in total. I am sorry girls but I don't know which cards these are as they don't say the recipients names. I will not pay this amount and if I knew for who they were I would send you another card but this year you will have to do without - SORRY.
On the 18th December I am having my left eye operated on for cataracts.
Yesterday I had a new catheter fitted and today the nurse gave my bladder a rinse out.
I have been doing some Christmas decorating, but Johan doesn't like me doing this until Sinterklaas is over, that is tomorrow when all the children get their presents.
Must close now, love Sylvia xxx

Lovely to see you on here Heather, I'm afraid I don't go on facebook anymore so its nice to keep up. So sorry to hear the very sad news about your brother. I really hope you enjoyed your day at the Christmas Market with the grandchildren how fabulous for them to go on the train. Frost again this morning but at least it warmed up a little during the day.
Sylvia nice to hear that you are having a little break from daily hospital visits, but as Ann said make sure you wrap up nice and warm think we all need to be wrapped up nice and warm.
Had the kids and grandkids all here today as granddaughter wanted to hold her birthday party here, I must be such a mug!! It meant packing away all my card making goodies as I was just in the middle of making my Christmas cards, at this rate they will never get finished. Still will get them all back out tomorrow and start again.
Now I am going to put my feet up and have a lovely cup of coffee.

Enjoy whats left of the weekend.
Love Joxxx

Lovely to see this thread pop up occasionally. Hello Sylvia, you are well ahead with your Christmas planning then. Hope it has warmed up a bit for you now, not nice to be so cold early in the winter. Make sure you wrap up warm when you go out.

Heather, lovely to see you but I am so sorry about your brother, a sad time for your family.

Don't those grandbabies grow quickyl? Ours are now 25, 24, 21, 17 and 11 and our great grandbaby is almost 5 months. Have a lovely day with them at the Christmas market.

Jo these early frosts are a pain, seems we werrre launched quickly into winter this year.

Margaret, pleased that you are enjoying your new bathroom etc, hope the stair lift is proving useful too. What a shame about the fuchsias, still they will grow back next year.

I was going to go into town today as OH is off playing golf but went to pick up our prescriptions and it was so cold and damp I came home again instead. Shall now have a cup of coffee here in the warm and read the paper. :-) :-)

Good morning ladies,

I hope you are all keeping well x

A little update (as I don't get on GR much)

Sadly one of our brothers passed away in Oct, very unexpected, even though he had been poorly for a longtime, he didn't suffer at the end, which is a blessing xx

Our little granbabies are growing fast, not babies anymore :( Savannah (2yrs) started nursery in Sept, she absolutely loves it, a very clever little girl, and Bella-Rose the youngest is toddling about now, well more of a sprint that a toddle :-) We're taking Bella and her big brother Jake on the train to Birmingham tomorrow, for the Christmas market, I think we shall have fun with them, I haven't done public transport with children for many years lol

I will pop back on before Christmas, all cards I'm hoping to send next week and January birthdays.

Thanks for all the updates Jo, you're a star x

Lots of love to you all

Heather xx

Well here we are again, all good pals and jolly good company. Now who wrote that? I keep coming up with that sort of thing these days, pieces of poetry etc. and say a few words and cannot finish the rest.
Yes, I have been so busy with everything. Some weeks having to go to the hospital every day. At the moment it is not so busy. I have finished my cards. I first finished all the bg's cards and then the rest of those I send to. I have some 80+ cards, all in envelopes and most with stamps on. I have started on buying presents, but the shops are so crowded that it takes me so long to get round.
The weather is bitterly cold at the moment and our heating is running overtime.
I received my first Xmas card and a present more than a week ago, but I won't open the present until Xmas morning.
We still have Sinterklaas here on 6 December and most people, especially those with children celebrate this before thinking about Xmas.
I hope that you have your long warm winter underwear out the mothballs because you will need it when we have that promised snow.
Now girls, keep warm and till the following news.

Hope Sylvia is OK as I noticed that she has not posted for a month, time flies I didn't realise that it was so long.
Hope everyone else is OK and not too cold with this miserable weather, even had snow yesterday morning thank goodness it only lasted half an hour then rained. temperature is only just above freezing again today, fed up of de-icing the car every morning.
Take care all of you

Still not started on my Christmas cards, as usual so much else to get done but I will start this weekend or so I keep telling myself.
Have a good week

Hallo all,
Well trying to cope with so many things. The op on my eye was also not normal - I have a plastic??? lens now. Sorry don't know the English word for it
The burnt/scorched wound on my stomach is now showing signs of improvement The nurse in charge of such wounds in the hospital cut away some dead skin. i had terrible diarrea for two days so asked the urologist to change my tablets so now have patches taped to my stomach and at the moment that is ok. I went to the dermatologist today and don't have to go back to him as my feet are good.
I think by Xmas I should be more or less finished with all the specialists.
I have a good stock of birthday cards and doing well with Xmas cards so am pleased with that.
Jo, could you run a new list of members out please as I think the list I have is out of date. Sorry if I've mislaid the good one.
The weather has been dry today so hope it stays that way for the weekend.
Love to you all.

Neve a dull moment with you Sylvia. Glad you are ok, that could have been nasty.

syljo Report 3 Oct 2013 20:47

Hi all,
I went to the hospital the other day and at the entrance to the hospital some car, travelling too fast, dashed in front of me and there was a terrific bang. I had hit him on the side and caused a huge dent in his new car. He was an elderly man and I had to sit with him whilst he filled in his insurance papers.
He asked for all my details, but my scootmobile is property of the Council so it is nothing to do with me further.
I don't know how I managd to keep on the scooter and to keep so calm, but I did. Johan was behind but didnt want to get involved.
I told the driver I had an appointment with the doctor and that he could phone me in the evening and have heard nothing yet.
Never a dull moment here!
So many people rushed up to me and were surprised when I didn't have a mark on me.
See you soon, love Sylvia xxx
