Jill in France Report 13 Aug 2011 15:46

Good afternoon Ladies and a very happy birthday to Ann xx

Been a busy summer so far, with the gite and classes and still no news on the house, still, I am more than happy to stay here for a well as originally we gave ourselves three years before we moved.

Sold two of our lambs this week and decided not to let our sheep lamb again, as long as Minty does not jump the fence !! We have kept sheep for quite awhile now and time to stop just in case the house sells.
Hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying the weekend;

xx Jill

PS Many thanks for the lovely and all so different ATCs x

Thank you for your good wishes and thank you Jo, Sylvia and Jill for my cards.

Jo I will do a proper thank you next week for everyone, there is still time for more to arrive.

Good idea to stop the sheep lambing now Jill. Hope the house sells sometime soon.

You are certainly very busy while house sitting Jo :-) :-) :-)

Thanks Ann, I know, as I received an email from the person that at least one card will be late due to a death in the family, we seem to have quite a few members of the group with major problems in their lives at the moment, I really hope things improve for them all very soon.

Jill you could always sell the sheep with the house, I really hope it sells soon for you although as you say the market is very slow at the moment over there but your place seems like a great bargain for someone.

Having a very lazy day today, well sort of!! Have already cleaned out the chickens and hamsters and took the dogs for a walk and it is only 9am, still now I am putting on C&C on the tv and taking my sewing and putting my feet up for a couple of hours. Although the sun is shining and I feel that I really should be picking more fruit.................

Jo, your card is so beautifully sewn. How do you have the patience (and eyesight) to do it, the stitches are so tiny?

Jo Jo

Jo Jo Report 16 Aug 2011 08:19

Hi Ann, thanks for your comments. I love doing stitched cards and as long as I sit in good light I am fine although threading the needle which has to be fine, is sometimes a problem!! My glasses for reading and close work certainly have got much stronger though over the last couple of years! :-0

Hi all,
What lovely weather we are having now. I still have my hobby room to sort out but when the sun shines...................
I went out again on my scootmobile and bought one or two things for the house, including a mosquito curtain for the rear door.
The birds are certainly pleased we have moved here and have finished all the balls we brought with us. My help came today and she swept all around the back of the house and cleaned the garden chairs. I bought a plastic cover for the chairs so that she doesn't have to clean them so often.
Johan's youngest sister - my age, and who was my bridesmaid - is coming with her youngest daughter here on Saturday. I must bake a cake and think of what we are going to eat. Yes, I think I am winning regardng my health as I want to cook etc. etc.

I have been trying to book a holiday for Johan and myself, but because I have to have a bladder rinse 3 times a week I have to pay 3 times as much as normal. It's not fair having to pay more because you have a sickness.
The Red Cross and the Sunflower are well known handicapped holidays but they are both full t his year.
Now down to some more card making.
Sylvia with love xxx

Sylvia sorry to hear that you are having difficulty booking a holiday, as you say it is not fair that you have to pay so much more to go, and then they are fully booked anyway!!
Sounds like you will have a good old natter over coffee and homemade cake when your bridesmaid comes for a visit to your new home. Good that you are getting back into your baking I should imagine that you have missed your cooking.

Sylvia,
Somebody who lives in Holland married to a Dutch man wants to ask her mother in law to knit some baby booties. Any idea what they are called in Holland as the MiL didn't understand?

Hi all,
Yes, still around and as busy as ever.
I had a mad day on Wednesday when I had to go to our Health Centre and lost my way and on the way back lost my way completely. Nobody seemed to know the way either. I even asked two men working on the road and they didn't know so I replied that they were as stupid as I was then.
On the way back decided to look at the sales and bought myself tricot harem trousers, tangerine colour - and two long sleeved T-shirts one brown and one cream colour and a short sleeved one, also cream coloured.
This morning joined the class for handwork and they were only knitting and sewing and I had taken my cards to do. I immediately sold 5!
I have promised to go again sometime and also the card making group. I was talking to a younger man at the computer and he gives computer lessons. I told him that Johan had just gone to a computer lesson at the library. I may see what I can learn here as it costs no extra.
We are supposed to be having good weather this weekend and then it is going to turn again. Johan is going to a veteran's reunion this weekend and my eldest daughter is going with him. I am glad she is going as I cannot and for Johan it is an emotional day. He had hoped to meet old buddies, but I have an idea that most of them have passed away.
Enjoy the sunshine girls.

Morning, just watching Barbara Grey on C&C now as you all know I don't stamp BUT I love watching her demonstrations she is soooooo good such talent. Really enjoyed her masterclass yesterday as well.

Sylvia lovely to 'see' you and that things are going well for you both at the moment. Good that your daughter is going with Johan for the reunion as the numbers get less and less it will be even more emotional. Lovely to hear that you are still selling your cards and that there is a craft group you can join.

Issy said ATC's are in the post, delayed as she was waiting for Heathers.

Busy couple of days, met up with Lizz Thursday evening great to meet up again!!, went to see Dolly Parton on Friday evening, birthday treat from daughter and it was a fabulous show and yesterday afternoon went to see Little Shop of Horrors at the out door theatre, weather was good and not too windy.

Just trying to decide what birthday card to make for granddaughter, all the grandchildren expect something better than last year and I am fast running out of ideas. Grandson when he was staying with me a couple of weeks ago saw a card demonstration from flower soft for Christmas cards using clear domes and their new Christmas cd, and informed me that thats the card he would like for christmas - so now need to find something similar in the craft shops really did not want to buy such a large kit & cd.

The weather is not as good as yesterday in fact it has been raining all morning still the garden needs it the lawn was still quite brown, afraid I am not in to watering the lawn!

Off now to do some crafting....

Hello Ladies from an almost sunny and warm Maine et Loire.

Sylvia, many thanks for your lovely surprise card, very apt for me xxxxx
The postie also delivered my ATCs, well done to you all as all so different.
We are waiting on a second viewing tonight but not getting our hopes up as were let done a few weeks back by a couple that wanted it then nothing :( now would be the ideal time for us as dogs are now into their 6th month after blood tests and can travel from next month.
Been busy making as many Christmas cards as I can so I will be all up to date if we move or sell before christmas.

Hope you are all keeping well

xx Jill

Jill you certainly are getting well prepared, I have only made a couple so far ready for Christmas.

Issy would like to know if anyone has any suggestions for ATC themes for the next few months, Christine has come up with quite a few suggestions!

Evening ladies, hope you are all keeping well at the moment. Just posting a quick message as my computer is playing up!!

Weather here is awful this evening, torrential rain, thunder storms and hail, what more can we ask, well apart from the two power cuts we have had, both lasting about two hours, grandchildren thought it was great to have candles and a torch to see their way around they are lucky they never get power cuts, we seem to have lots of them.

Have not done any crafting this week, just too busy with other things, really need to get started on my Christmas cards and finish my ATC's.

Enjoy whats left of your weekend.

Jo,
Ideas for your ATC cards -Sadness - happiness.
I think my neighbour of 96 died yesterday. There was an ambulance here last night and everything is very quiet today. Mind you it has always been quiet and I never died pass the day with him but his wife came in once. Time will tell!
It has been raining on and off all day, and the showers very heavy, but there was sunshine and rainbows too.
School holidays finished here so shops are getting back to normal.
See you soon
