Hallo girls,
Here I am again, as happy as can be, yes you've guessed I am able to access the site again. Why oh why couldn't I before, I suppose I'll never know. I do know that today I haven't done anything different than I did yesterday, but yesterday couldn't get on the site.
Anyway here I am and so pleased.
Today I had to go to the hospital and meet my new urologist. I hope he comes up with something different than the others did. I now have to stop fixing a catheter bag on during the day. I hope that it improves because it is a nightmare at the moment.
My bladder has shrunk so much that it is just impossible to carry out my 3xweek rinsing.
Johan borrowed a scootmobile and we 'scooted' together to the hospital, but it was not nice weather otherwise I would have looked over the market.
I wonder how Jill is. She is so active and even managed a birthday card for me.
Now girls have a good night.
Sylvia xxx ;-)

Sylvia lovely to see that you are back on the site!! It would be nice if your new consultant sorts out your problem it has been going on for quite some time and cannot be good for you.
I am sure once Jill gets sorted from the move she will post again.

Hi all,
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Oh what a wonderful sight it is here with all the snow we have had. During the day the sun has been shining on the snow, making it even more like a picture postcard. The poor little birds had thought Spring had come and now this. I am sure they had started to look for a new nest for their offspring. Ah, I've never seen so many sparrows, blue tits, blackbirds, etc. etc. I don't like the pigeons - yes here I must discriminate, as they really irritate me with their cooing and foul droppings.
I have had so many visitors in this new house, and have never been lonely. The nurses who come round like to come for a cup of coffee and a laugh and chat. They do get some miserable people sometimes but they say Johan and I are always the same, so nice to hear that it makes life worth living.
I heard that some workers are skating to work. What a nice thought. I was never a skater, could never stand up on my feet. It is so lovely to see all the skaters on the lakes here. They are all hoping that the famous 11-town skating tour will take place this year, but the frost must stay with us for so many days. My son in law has done this tour twice and can proudly show his medals.
The same sort of thing could be done in the Lake District in England.
Jill, are you being hampered by the snow? looking forward to reading all your notes soon!
Ann, all these photos you are publishing - where we put our own photo - are they ex boy friends? ha ha ha
Jo has used her dog instead of her own photo, but it would be nice if we saw her face sometime, eh Jo?
Now enjoy yourselves girls, because when this snow goes we will get that horrible stuff called rain.
Johan and I made up a long shopping list to have delivered next Monday to save us going out in the snow. Now, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
Sylvia xxx ;-)

Hello Sylvia, you sound happy, obviously enjoying living in your new home. I am so pleased for you. Which photos do you mean? Do you mean the one besides this post. He was my Grandfather, my Mothers father.
We just had a light dusting of snow here but it is very cold. :-)

Jo Jo Report 4 Feb 2012 22:05

It is snowing very hard here at the moment it is already over 2 inches deep, like you Sylvia I had a delivery this morning of groceries so I am well stocked up if we cannot get to the shops, although I do have an old 4x4. We live about 2 miles from a shop so at a push could walk there to get milk and bread if we run out, but I do have all the ingredients to make my own bread if I need to. Sylvia, as Ann has already said you sound so happy in your new house and your nurses sound so lovely.
:-)
Sylvia you know what I look like we met when you came over to England the other year, too scary to put up a photo!!

syljo Report 6 Feb 2012 21:30

Hallo all,
Of course Jo I don't forget our last trip to England when we met you, so nice to see you in person!
Johan has bought some new telephones for this house. We have the main mother set and then 2 extra ones. The sound is greater than our last telephone, which we need at our age now!
We had our large grocery delivery today and I have put most away but Johan has to put some things away as well. let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Tomorrow a fashion house is bringing some clothing, both mens and womens, to sell. They say buy one article and get the second free. Probaby won't buy anything but useful to look. Johan could do with some more trousers.
I haven't seen the physiotherapist yet which the doctor was going to order for me for my tennis arms. My two elbows are the worst for pain.
The thickness of the ice is not good enough yet for the famous 11-steden tour (11-towns tour). The commitee have a meeting every day to discuss the situation. I do hope it goes on.
Now to have a look to see whether there are any messages for me.
Goodnight girls.

Hi all,
I look like a regular columnist when I see all the letters I have sent in. Do I really talk so much? There are really not so many who actually adding to this column. Where are you those who don't?
I sent Johan out today as I thought he needed the fresh air, or did I want him to leave me in peace!!
Anyway he came back with 3 bunches of light yellow tulips, so I'm happy, and he? I hope so.
I want to bake a cake but my mixer is broken and my hands are not up to whisking or beating. I've been trying to look on the internet to see which mixer I should buy. I did have a Braun with lots of accessories, so if I bought another make then the accessories would be wasted. I'm not sure what to do. I used to have a Kenwood. Please tell me what to do.
See you tomorrow. love, Sylvia xxx

Sylvia, sorry to have left you talking to yourself, I guess the thread sunk down a few pages before I got to answer it. I do hvae a Kenwood food processor but the mixer that works for me is a Kenwood Chefette, it is old. T bought it for me in 1967, I use it when I can't be bothered to get the big one out. I don't think you can go wrong with Kenwood, however others may know differently.

How lovely of Johan to bring you back tulips, I am sure they cheered you up. did you send him out because he was getting under your feet :-D :-D That is why I like the days T goes to golf, unfortunately it is a bit cold for that at the moment.

I bought myself some daffodils yeaterday at the supermarket, two bunches for £1 on special offer. They were tightly in bud but now they are all out and they smell wonderful.

Keep warm Sylvia if you do go out. :-)

Jo Jo

Jo Jo Report 11 Feb 2012 14:50

Sylvia, I also have a Kenwood and love it had it for my 21st birthday, so very, very old but still works perfectly and I have quite a lot of attachments, and like Ann I also have the Kenwood hand mixer for smaller mixes. I think you would be as well to stick with the make you have all the attachments for if you use them as it is so expensive to buy all the attachments for the Kenwood.
You are so lucky that Johan buys you flowers, I tend to buy my own flowers, it is just something Jim has never done!! I obviously did not train him right.

As for people posting, I think that most are on Facebook, but I am afraid I don't go on there at all and there is only about 3 of us that post on FTF very much like here.

Very cold here today, -11 last night, but the sun is shining and it is a glorious day, love days like this, snow is lingering though.

Have a lovely weekend

Morning ladies, hope everyone is keeping well. Weather here is awful today heavy rain and very windy. Have just been to the vets to collect my dog, he has been in there for 2 days following surgery on his leg as he had damaged his cruciate ligament and needed surgery to repair it. He has had titanium implants and a wedge put in, sounds awful but if if helps him walk again properly I suppose it is all worth it. Have had to get a ramp made for the back door as he is not allowed up and down steps for a few weeks with no exercise for weeks and then only 10 mins a day for 5 weeks, so going to be a long slow process.
Take care

Hi Jo, very windy here too, and cold, and drizzle, not very nice at all.

Sorry to hear about your poor dog and I hope all the treatment etc works and he is back to full health before too long. :-)

Hallo all,
Well back to the pc for a while. I cou7ldn't get the letter any bigger so couldn't see what I was typing. My granddaughter came tonight and everything is working again. What a miracle that girl is.
The weather is fantastic, although the wind can be quite cold, especially on my scootmobile.
How is your dog now Jo? I do hope he or she has benefited from the operation he has overgone.
I have a busy day tomorrow with being washed and dressed early and then on to physiotherpy for my arms and elbows.
Will post again later, love from Sylvia xxx

Well, survived another day of massage on my upper arm and next will be the elbows.
My household help phoned she was sick and the company sent me a replacement. A very nice 22 year old girl. She had a pile of ironing to do and said that she actually likes ironing!
She could fold up washing also so nicely Johan says our cupboards have never been so tidy looking. Doesn't say much for me, does it? Anyway I know what he means.
See you tomorrow, Yes, Spring is just around the corner, or was it the March winds doth blow and we shall have snow?

Spring is on its way!! Well I certainly hope it is.
Your massage sounds lovely and relaxing Sylvia but I would imagine it was nothing like that at all, hope it has not left you feeling sore. Your home help sounds like a dream, can I borrow her for a week!!

Have managed to get a sore throat, hope it soon goes and does not develop into anything else.

Take care

Hallo all,
Life is full of surprises - well it is for me. I received a Xmas card posted by my cousin on 3rd December. On the envelope it said that it had been to Thailand!! Well, well, what next? It was posted north London.
Yes Heather you're right, you must do the things you like and not the things you don't like, then the best will come out of you. I don't like making cards with tea bags, so don't even try any more.
There seem to be a lot of people making jewellery at the moment and I saw lovely necklaces on the market for only 1 Euro a piece. Not worth the effort in making them.
I was at the Saturday market and bought two bunches of beautiful tulips - dual colour of red and yellow. They were only 6 Euro for the two bunches and as I was going away he gave me 3 bunches of daffodils as a gift. Yes, I'll go there again!!
I always have pleasure with my tulips now I cut a piece off the end and then a long piece and I prick just under the flower.
Bye for now, love Sylvia xxx
:-)

Hello Heather, nice to see you. We do have a jewellery maker on the craft blog, have you seen her photos, very attractive pieces.

Sylvia, I do that with tulips as well, it makes them last longer. you had a bargain with your flowers. Our Tesco has been selling two bunches of daffodil buds for £1, they come out beautifully and last about a week. last week theyw ere reduced to 85p, they didn't quite last the week but we enjoyed them while they lasted.

Just popped in for a few minutes. I haven't seen my physiotherapist and heard she was sick. I do wish she would phone then I knew it first hand, so to speak.
My help in the house is now back, and both she and myself are happy. We like to have a bit of a chinwag now and again. She also knows where everything is in my house which saves a lot of time.
Johan and I are 56 yerars married on the 17th and Johan will be 87 years of age on 22nd March. What a lot of years have gone past.
The weather is super at the moment and will be so for a few more days.
See you later.
